Barbara Lagoa, a frontrunner for the open Supreme Court seat that President Donald Trump is pushing to fill, has made her conservative views known in business cases and disputes over the limits of executive power.
EX-FELONS RIGHT TO VOTE
This month, Lagoa joined the majority in a major ruling by the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals that upheld a law requiring people with past felony convictions to pay outstanding court fees, fines and restitution before regaining the right to vote.
PARKLAND MASSACRE FALLOUT
In January 2019, Floridas Republican Governor Ron DeSantis elevated Lagoa from an intermediate state court to the Florida Supreme Court.
Four months later, Lagoa handed DeSantis a high-profile win when she wrote a decision upholding his authority to suspend the sheriff of Floridas Broward County.
MINIMUM WAGE FIGHT
While on the Florida Supreme Court in 2019, Lagoa sided with business groups challenging a decision by the city of Miami Beach to raise its minimum wage.
The court said a 2003 state law that preempted all local minimum wage laws still prohibited higher local wages in Florida.

That’s a pretty minor case.
If this is all the democrats have to attack her on, she’s a shoe in for nomination.
Reuters? How many times did they mention the word “racist”?
“...show right-leaning views”
Somehow that statement does not bolster my confidence.
None of that sounds outrageous, even to a lib but that’s beside the point. Did they expect Trump to nominate Karl Marx? Election have consequences, so a lib told me.
What’s not to like?
We want Right, not Right-leaning. Her father-in-law is a federal district court judge appointed by Clinton. Lagoa would be a disaster.
If the Alliance for Just-us doesnt like her she sounds like a good pick.
Right wing? I say great!
“Deal with it. I won.”
That would be the best confirmation hearings ever.
Hope for the best and prepare to be disappointed.
Honestly, I expect President Trump will nominate someone to the right of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and that's about it.
We'll see. It sure would be nice to get a stealth conservative on the bench one of these days.
She was originally appointed by Jeb Bush. Please clap.
Don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but
it is a little disconcerting when one posts a picture without saying who the person is.
Now, I don’t know whether to like this guy or hate him.
I dont want someone who leans right. I want a true conservative for the court.
Are you referring to post#9?
I saw one of Roto Reuters’ trucks the other day.
And Trump shook hands with Bill Clintdog And donated to his reelection campaign. Clintdog was 30 years ago when you could still be a decent person and be a Democrat. Clintdog started the slide to horrendous but not every Democrats understood that. You cant really compare then and now directly. Clintdog had a lot of people fooled. He even went to church on Sunday while carrying big leather bound bible.
