Another part is realizing most media is partisan. When you know the media is partisan, you can take that into account.

Without having watched the movie, I suppose a corollary is if one lives in a Dem controlled state, and city where most people are Dems and one wants to be social and have friends, then there is little option but to take up their point of view.

I highly recommend watching this documentary. I was skeptical that Netflix could present any useful unbiased information on this topic and was pleasantly surprised.
The concept of how algorithms control social media feeds to manipulate users is shown through clever dramatizations along with interviews with the guys who created these algorithms. This situation is much worse and more malevolent than I could have imagined.
There is some liberal bias evident, particularly one scene where some pompous a-hole goes on about how the Russians used Facebook to steal the 2016 election, but it’s clear that the filmmakers put a lot of effort into not making this a liberal trope.

As soon as I mentioned Q, a programmed “All Q things bad” reaction rose up in some readers (maybe you) the same way “orange Man bad” raises up in programmed leftists.
Now, I am not defending Q or saying I’m aligned there. I am pointing out that this aspect of an alternative information source to corporate controlled programming is NEVER mentioned in articles about Q, which instead emphasizes the emotionally contrived word “conspiracy.”

People tend to harbor in echo chambers where all their extreme views are seen as normal and sensible. When they get out into public, they are insulted that people don’t agree with them. It is similar to when Southerners left the South during Jim Crow days. They were shocked and insulted that blacks were equal to them in those areas.

My son and I watched it last week and found it went a long way toward answering the question “What the HELL has happened to the country”? It’s a frightening documentary and leaves me less optimistic than those interviewed.

Wrong source. The big sources of the hate are the political parties. Because the only thing they’re loyal to is the party, they don’t care what it does to the country. So they make sure their “faithful” are always ginned up with anger and hate for their “enemies”. The only solution is to ban political parties.

Big websites, the web in general, most TV shows and movies made in the past 40 years, every increasing control of EDU in that same time period. People are bombarded from all sides.
Oh if only it were that simple. While you might convince conservatives to adopt that tactic, leftists never will.
Irritated people are more likely to buy things - “consume”. Chaos in the community, and restrictive health mandates, ruin small business. Who benefits? Large businesses. Who pays for media? Large business. The media is beholden to people who want rash consumers and a lack of competition.
Most people are like salmonids. They need to run with the crowd and reproduce, but in the end they all die the same way.
Standing on principles even if it hurts is uncommon. Don’t get me wrong, not all issues are hills to die in. Some are. Once you carefully decide to draw your saber, either weild it to the end, or be willing to fall on it.
