More disturbing news from Russia: the Putin government has ordered teachers in St. Petersberg to monitor and identify queer students via social media accounts. The government has also demanded all the personal information of said students be turned over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for punishment.
The Russian activist organization LGBT Network released a statement this week following the acquisition of emails to teachers from government agencies. In the emails, teachers are ordered to assess the social media accounts of their students and draw up dossiers, noting if any pro-queer language or symbols such as the Pride Flag appear on their pages. Instructors then must turn the personal details–including names, addresses, and descriptions of each student–over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for processing.
The Putin administration justifies this kind of “monitoring” of students, aged 10-17, as a means of identifying “minors against whom illegal acts have been committed, or who have committed an offense or antisocial acts.”

my bet is the monitoring has more to do with the adults contacting the kids then whether a kid is gay but who knows it could easily also be them looking for kids who are gay...

This sounds downright Obamaesq or Clintonian...all that's missing is the "if we can save just one child, it's worth it" bromide. If we saw this story, we be up in arms over the egregious overreach of government: Monitoring the social media of minors is the job of the parents.
I don't see why it's simply bad for the state to spy and compile a dossier on kids, period.

I am totally in agreement with you, that we've seen entertainment and society push down the age of consent. Indeed, I suspect your average woke snowflake would, if facing an election between a racist and a pedo, vote for the pedo. I believe the cracks in that dam were caused by stories about teachers sleeping with students, to which many guys chuckled and hinted that they'd hit it too if she was their teacher and they were given the chance.
Or do you think this is just a "gay" problem? Because while gays certainly screw things up, so do straights. Yes...pushing girl toys on boys and visa versa is stupid, as is raising kids "genderless." And while it's not necessarily gay, pushing gender reassignment surgery on kids is wrong on so many levels.
That said, I would submit to you that more children have been damaged by divorce than exposure to Disney movies or Glee, but little bandwidth is spent blasting divorce. And, for what it's worth, while there are 50 divorces for every 100 marriages annually in the US, the divorce number in this analysis in Russia is 85. But let's worry about the gays instead...
And, for the record, this article has zero to do about adults preying on children, unless you count teachers as predators: it's about the government spying and data-collecting on children. If teachers built dossiers on American children's social media, we'd be up in arms...
