York County officials confirmed 190 inmates have tested positive for the coronavirus since testing began at the prison last spring.
According to county spokesman Mark Walters, 173 inmates or detainees are in isolation as of Saturday. A majority of their positive test results were discovered this week during mass testing, Walters said. He said they are still awaiting the results of 60 tests.
As stated [Friday] the increase in positive results experienced earlier this week, is not unexpected considering the congregate living situation present in the Prison facility and with the increase in communicative spread that we are seeing in the public, Walters said in a Saturday news release.
York County has conducted more than 1,400 coronavirus tests at the prison since April, according to Walters.
Twelve inmates have recovered from a positive diagnosis, with two requiring hospitalization in the process, Walters said. One of the two remains hospitalized, but the other has recovered.
York County announced earlier this week that inmate movements would be further restricted and an additional housing unit opened to slow the viruss spread.
Continuing our efforts of isolation, quarantine and serial testing is working to mitigate the spread of the infection and keep the majority of our prison population safe, Walters said. We will continue to work with our health care provider and implement the recommendations from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control to the extent feasible to continue our prevention efforts and to ensure those who are ill receive necessary medical care.
Over the course of a decade multiple bond issues were floated which eventually doubled the size of the prison.
Then Uncle Sam got wise to the scheme.
Now the other shoe has dropped.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Apparently none of them died.
It’s not even the flu, bro.
Good, now they have prison herd immunity. No need to release them
Do prisoners ever get serious flu complications? Some might.
Positive sign.
Open the State, Wolf.
Now, how many actually have symptoms? How many were hospitalized? How many have died.
The count is just for Fauci...and his little numbers game.
I heard that bro.
The most despicable excuse I hear was we have to let them go because they may all get the virus and stay right where they are.
200 means 20 according to the new CDC guidance, right?
Yea and then CDC tells us that there is a 90% false positive for our testing. Given that and the total fraud on how they counted people who did not die form Covit in the stats, no body has any idea whats really going on.
But trust the science, just because their math is off by a magnitude does not mean they not smarter than the rest of us.
Send them all to the nursing homes!
Send them to New York,,,,,killer Cuomo knows what to do with them and He will get Fed funds......
We had about the same number test positive in our local jail last week. All were asymptomatic. I have a friend who is a detective who says that when they find out that someone has it, they have them cough on them so they can try to catch it. He says they think they will be released.
Too bad.
Don’t do things that get you sent to prison.
We don’t need one more felon on the streets right now.
B.S.
Sooo... whats the point of this article?
200 positives out of 1400 is like the cruise ship numbers.
Moet minor with a couple of hospitalizations.
No deaths. Prisons, cruise ships and Nursing homes are petri dishes for the virus excrpt the old folks die easily.
Send them to New York....
