Intense snowstorms and frosts hit Patagonia amid one of the region's worst winters in two decades, which has badly affected the agricultural sector. More than 100 000 livestock animals have perished, according to officials' first estimate of losses, who also warned that herdsmen in the highlands may lose up to 70 percent of the flock. In early August, an agricultural disaster emergency was declared for the affected territories.
Officials conducted the first assessment of losses together with technicians from the Agriculture Technology Institute, covering highlands next to the cordillera.
"Anyhow, we are talking of at least 100 000 sheep and 5 000 cattle," said provincial livestock secretariat Tabare Bassi this week.
Bassi further warned that the severe weather could cause the death of 70 percent of the flock in the high areas of the Patagonian Argentina's Rio Negro Province.
Intense snowfall followed by frosts affected mostly small farmers with flocks no larger than 250 heads, "which makes it a serious survival challenge," he said.
"We estimate that the worse losses are along the mountainous terrain between 1 000 and 1 300 m (3 280 to 4 260 feet) above sea level, while at sea level we can expect sheep mortality in the range of 30 percent."

Buy ag futures ...
More GoreBull warming.
I bought three meat goats, buck and two does, a few months ago. Does that count?
Should have 2-4 goat kids in February. Any bucks will either be sold live to a private buyer, go to auction or go in the freezer
The enviro terrorists are busy to working for the global cause
Doesn’t a lot of our beef come from Brazil? Don’t know if Brazil, too, had a bad winter however.
Patagion way down South.
*Pro Tip: Don't shear your sheep in the Winter.
The events what you describe are just a couple out of many from around the world and I do believe that many if not most of them are the results that once again we are heading into the 3600 year repetitive cycle. A good site which is updated daily to keep up with some of these destructive events is SOTT.NET and you will find it under EARTH CHANGES I do believe you my find it interesting.
What a lot of people do not realize or even heard about including the Chinese is, that once again we are heading into another 3600 year repetitive cycles described in literature, historic accounts as well in great detail by Emanuel Velikovsky. It is the same cycle which give or take about 3520 years ago produced the TEN PLAGUES and drove the than Pharaoh nuts who eventually conceded to Moses demands and freed the Jews what went down in the annals of history as the EXODUS. From ancient Chinese historic accounts we know that about the same time China experienced very similar problems as they did in ancient Egypt such as flooding, severe storms as well as quakes etc. in other words what was taking place was on a worldwide scale, quite like what we are experiencing right now on a worldwide scale including China with more water than they know what to do with.
As we look around on a worldwide scale all these crazy weather events seem to back this up. From an unusual heat spell in the arctic region to camels stumping around in snow in some areas in Saudi Arabia, to excessive flooding in other areas receiving several month worth of rain in just a few hours, or severe droughts in others along with an increase in quakes as well a volcanic eruptions and so far we are just partially into this cycle. As I have stated on several occasion in the past, so far the US has been relatively fortunate escaping some of these devastating events, aside from the last storm which did a number on Iowas crop or last years flooding in Nebraska. And I hope that our luck will continue, but I am afraid there will be more to come.. As far as The Three Gorges Dam is concerned with a little luck it may hold, short of an earthquake what is always a possibility. I for one could not sleep very well living downstream knowing that this dam is holding back a lake give or take 340 miles in length.

There is no food shortage - there are floods, yes, but there is still enough food to feed the world population easily.
The famine mortality numbers have been steadily dropping decade on decade
Thank you very much for your reply which seemed quite reasonable and explanatory. But it invites another question, what triggered the shift in the earth axis and why do we see an apparent replication of events very similar in nature what took place 3600 years ago. In other words is there an EXTERNAL trigger which returns give or take every 3600 years and interacts with planet earth and indications are that once again we are running into it. Besides I have gathered from some of the articles I have come across that other planets in our solar system also have shown reactions in one form or another to some external influence. So whatever this external influence maybe, which is open to speculation appears to be on a 3600 year cycle.
