KENOSHA, Wis. The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved shooting (OIS) in Kenosha, Wis. that occurred on the evening of Sunday, August 23, 2020.
Kenosha Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2800 block of 40th Street after a female caller reported that her boyfriend was present and was not supposed to be on the premises.
During the incident, officers attempted to arrest Jacob S. Blake, age 29. Law enforcement deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, however the taser was not successful in stopping Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake walked around his vehicle, opened the drivers side door, and leaned forward. While holding onto Mr. Blakes shirt, Officer Rusten Sheskey fired his service weapon 7 times. Officer Sheskey fired the weapon into Mr. Blakes back. No other officer fired their weapon. Kenosha Police Department does not have body cameras, therefore the officers were not wearing body cameras.
The shooting officer, Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey, has been a law enforcement officer with Kenosha Police Department for seven years.
During the investigation following the initial incident, Mr. Blake admitted that he had a knife in his possession. DCI agents recovered a knife from the drivers side floorboard of Mr. Blakes vehicle. A search of the vehicle located no additional weapons.
Law enforcement immediately provided medical aid to Mr. Blake. Flight for Life transported Mr. Blake to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Mr. Blake remains at the hospital.
DCI is leading this investigation and is assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Wisconsin State Patrol and Kenosha County Sheriffs Office. All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation. The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to a prosecutor following a complete and thorough investigation.
When DCI is the lead investigating agency of a shooting involving a law enforcement officer, DCI aims to provide a report of the incident to the prosecutor within 30 days. The prosecutor then reviews the report and makes a determination about what charges, if any, are appropriate. If the prosecutor determines there is no basis for prosecution of the law enforcement officer, DCI will thereafter make the report available to the public.
Which is why his wife called 911 since she thought he was there to kill her.
Wasnt the first report that Blake stopped there to help break up a fight between two women?
Officer not guilty of anything. Mr Blake is lucky to be alive, even if paralyzed.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Black is a skin color, not a license to break the law, especially given the suspects long, violent rap sheet.
A guess: His girlfriend was probably getting all up in the face of the ex.
Well Kenosha isn't going to be a very nice place to live for at least a month then
DCI agents recovered a knife from the drivers side floorboard
Which is where he was reaching.
Again, and I sound like a broken record not that anyone remembers, but this is another example of where the banning of neck restraints is causing problems.
The Brooks case in Atlanta and this case are both examples of where the perp gave the officer his back. If officers were allowed to do what they could last year and grab them by the neck both incidents would NOT have ended as they did.
Just saying..... tasers suck. When they work they are awesome, but you don’t always get a good hit/connection. The over-reliance on less lethal and fear of going hands on with subjects is going to cause far more deaths over the long term.
The other problem with tasers is that when you are on the concrete or asphalt the subject is going to ding their melon when they get hit likely harming themselves worse than if the officer went hands on.
Just my .02

Justified....
I heard they found a knife on the floor on the driver’s side.
That looks like a game changer. Where’d you get that photo? Thx.
Cop probably thought he was swapping the knife for a gun. Seven shots makes me think the cop may have panicked a bit but no one can predict how they or anyone is goign to react in a real world situation like that.
I really hope this blows up in the face of all these sports teams boycotting their games today in support of this fool with the knife.
He probably dropped the knife in the floorboard after being shot. Here’s the photo and video showing him carrying the knife while walking around the front of the vehicle.

That’s probably why the police backed away from him so fast on the other side of the vehicle before drawing their weapons.
And if cops didnt respond and he’d have murdered her, ash0les would still be rioting and blaming cops for that.
They have the Toxicology, but they are hiding it.
They are going to railroad those Cops. Thats the plan, the only plan.
Remember, the Lt. Gov said, out of the gate, that Blake (gentleman) was de-escalating the situation, but the Cops had a Vendetta against him.
The decision has been made to convict the Officer.
I saw it at Second City Cop blog.
my interpretation would be he dropped the knife in the car.
