The numbers are staggering. According to online real estate company Zillow, the city by the Bay is emptying out.
A flood of new listings began during the pandemic, a 96% increase compared to last years housing inventory. Silicon Valley pushed staff to work from home, an effort many tech giants are thinking of making permanent. But that doesnt explain the exodus since San Jose hasnt seen the same effect. Neither have Miami, Boston or Washington, D.C., at least not at this level.
The sad fact is, San Francisco has become unaffordable and unlivable at the same time.
The harsh pandemic response has hurt other California cities as well. Gov. Newsoms arbitrary diktats have shuttered churches and gyms, but ignored massive Black Lives Matter protests and the advantage-taking rioters who followed in their wake.
Wife and I are thinking of a home in the Prescott area, but the stuff we see of interest does not last long.

“Spy vs. spy”-—it’s not just MAD magazine.
It was great being raised there and spending many of my working years there. But unfortunately by the time the mid 80s hit, CA was becoming way overcrowded, ugly and mean and the leftist took over and basically trashed everything. Very sad but that’s the way life is, things change..
..we moved to AZ last year. Experienced a mixture of relief and grief. California used to be amazing—now it’s a nightmare...
I’ll modify my comment.
The big unknown is how many of the California escapees are conservatives vs communists. I know there are plenty of normal Americans getting out. I had a life long buddy from about 1947 move from CA to AZ last year. About as good a guy as it gets (including his wife). 2 Vietnam purple hearts, Marine pilot, retired American Airlines Captain, NRA endowment member, etc. Unfortunately, we lost him last year. As good as they come. If the current situation in CO is any indicator, I don’t think the balance is in our favor.
Feel bad for the Arizonans, we here in Washington and Oregon got invaded by fleeing Californians in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, and as everyone knows both states have become liberal crap holes.
The problem seems to me to be that someone can be conservative on a relative scale (comparing that person to the average California lefty, for instance), yet not be very conservative at all. A lot of these folks move out of California, thinking they’re quite conservative, but they’re not when it comes to voting.
Bump
Uhh, pretty sure it's verboten here to say that Texas could turn Dem. They're a whole 'nuther country, dontcha know.
We’ll be watching the upcoming election closely. It should shed light on a lot of things that might be in question today.
There will only be four red states in ten years
I lived in Colorado 1980 to 2000....moved to many people...now the state is trash...
The states should of had an immigration system...to many people have ruined a lot of state....cities should do the same...get so big and that is it...
someone dies or moves out you get on a list to move in
Phoenix currently has a mayor thats a Lori Lightfoot wannabe.
“Well be watching the upcoming election closely. “
Me too...I have a vested interest in AZ. Relatives and a 2nd home there. Worried about McSally.
Elitists in CA DO NOT CARE. The super-elite can live anywhere. They love THEIR STATE. THEY DISDAIN ALL OTHERS. Population reduction by any means necessary. They will then have their utopia. If 1/2 to 3/4 left the state tomorrow, the elites would say mission accomplished. Population reduction is paramount. Think like an elitist. Those leaving are non-essential, wasting valuable resources. They secure their dominance over THEIR STATE FOREVER. Like Islam...once a territory conquered it’s never given up. Welcome to our life non-essentials. We are a nobody in the big picture if we do not submit to their agenda and become their work/tax slaves. You can visit, but there is a price to pay...move...price to pay...eat...price to pay...etc., etc. Always have been, always will be non-essential. Tax the non-essentials out of the state. Adjust accordingly. Abort your children. Take our mandated vaccines. The work/tax/service slaves can live in undesirable housing with undesirable medical care and further restriction on their voice freedom, gathering freedom, food freedom and movement freedom. Stay and pay to watch their propaganda, watch their distractions, become medicate by their pharmacists, drugged by their pushers, indoctrinated by their educators and media, watched by their technocrats/data collectors. The non-essentials can be harassed, beaten, raped, arrested, murdered at will and fight & die in their wars. We the elite are the legislators, the judges, the juries, the executioners and make all rules. We are nobodies with no power, no recourse. How easy is that?
See? 1984 in 2020 on STEROIDS. Oh well...er Orwell. WELCOME to your nightmare in real time. Dystopia for thee, satisfaction for me.
Adios Americans.
“Arizona: the next failed state.”
I’m hoping that this year’s hottest-on-record summer will discourage them from making AZ a permanent residence.
But they also believe in faggot rights and abortion rights and don't even consider that they're rank liberals.
Libertarians are a classic example. Open borders. Vending machine narcotics. Faggot rights ("liberty", remember?) Abortion rights. But they stand for gun ownership rights and delude themselves in thinking we have something in common.
McSally is coming around.
I hope for better things from the newbies. I remember how conservative the refugees from Cuba were (and mostly still are). Maybe we’re getting mostly patriots. Hope so.
Drove- is that a new truck rental company, like Ryder or U-Haul?
