Both the White House and the Trump campaign on Sunday said unequivocally that Sen. Kamala Harris is eligible to serve as vice president and blamed the media for fomenting unfounded questions about the issue.
Yeah, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said on CNNs State of the Union. This is not something that were going to pursue yall have spent more time on it than anybody in the White House has talking about this.
Trump campaign senior advisor Jason Miller said its not something anyone on the campaign is talking about.
In our opinion, it is case closed. End of story. And the only folks who keep bringing it up are the media, Mr. Miller said on ABCs This Week.
Ms. Harris was born in Oakland, California to a Jamaican-born father and an Indian mother and is a natural born citizen eligible to serve as vice president.
President Trump has said in recent days that he has no idea whether a theory put forth by a conservative lawyer calling Ms. Harriss eligibility into question is correct.
The lawyer happens to be brilliant lawyer, as you probably know, the president said on Saturday. He wrote an article saying there could be a problem. Its not something that Im going to be pursuing.
Newsweek has since apologized for the recent opinion piece from attorney John Eastman, saying its being used by some as a tool to perpetuate racism and xenophobia.

Right answer indeed. Now they can spend the next 80 days arguing that she is profoundly unsuited to higher office.
It’s a smart move but I still hope someone else not campaign related takes it up. If they can get a court to even touch it. It’s probably better for Trump if Kamala stays on the ticket. But we need the precedents set for who is eligible and who is not.
The question of what “Natural Born Citizen” means needs to be defined outside of a campaign cycle. But it needs to be defined clearly, as it causes confusion on both sides. And frustration when we can’t get courts to rule on it.
We also need the question of who examines the eligibility of candidates. Nobody claimed respoonsibility for examining Obama’s credentials. I think multiple federal agencies as well as state secretary of stateas should be charged with examining the eligibility of candidates.
In 2004 we had at least two ineligible candidates make it onto the ballots. This should never happen.
“The Socialist Workers Party’s official ticket could not be listed on the ballot in some states because Calero and Hawkins were both ineligible to be President, as Calero was not a native-born citizen and Hawkins was too young.” - Wikipedia
ANyone born on US soil and over 35 is eligible- sad but true. Anchor babies like Heels Harris are indeed as eligible as you and I.
@@@@@
Totally wrong.
Reason 5: Supreme Court precedent
In Minor v. Happersett (1874), all children born in the United States were divided into two categories: those whose parents were U.S. citizens, and
those whose parents were not.
The Court used the term “natural born citizen” only in reference to members of the first category.
The Court doubted
whether members of the second category were even citizens, let alone natural born citizens
* On one side is born in US from citizen parents.
* On the other side is born in US to anyone, including illegals
* In the middle is born in the US to permanent residents or citizens (a SCOTUS tested criteria for birthright citizenship).
* To the left of the middle is born in the US to foreign parents (like Kampalas) here on temporary visas (as with illegal parents, an untested criteria for birthright citizenship).
Since the left believe that everything Trump says is a lie, will make Harris drop out because Trump lied about her eligibility?
I’m glad to see that they’re not going to touch it. Its a political loser. I would hope we’d learned that lesson from the Obama years. The media will just use it to undercut the rest of our argument against the candidate.
It is not a legal precedent. The issue needs to be adjudicated. The problem is judges would sidestepped the issue by saying the complainant does not have standing.
RIP Constitution
The White House should absolutely ignore this issue. It’s not going to help the campaign to pursue this.
President Trump is not pursuing the question.
Sleepy Joe has to attest to Cameltoe’s eligibility to each State.
The States run the election
Today, lawsuits are brought (or not) based on today's consensus, not that dusty, quill pen-written stuff with its ablative absolutes and all, don't you know!?
FBI Director James Comey used the standard of "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case," regarding non-prosecution of HRC. Even though Jim was fired, his decision has stood, not reversed, for four years.
SCOTUS decides cases dependent on the outcome of elections.
Who needs the Constitution, law books, or case case law when you have such lofty standards as these modern tools?
Having said what I did, I know that her being ineligible, as was Obama, won’t matter to the swamp dwellers. I just wanted to point out the obvious.
Great post, yes. This does need to be finally settled, and outside of a campaign cycle.
One thing that will need to change, culturally, is our sense of civics. We have been so inundated with “diversity” and porous borders and “kneelers” that we’ve forgotten what it really means to be an American, and to be proud of being an American.
Once that question is settled (politics is downstream of culture) we will see the Supreme Court finally put this to rest.
Go back to sleep
LOL...that would be hilarious.
>>Its racist and xenophobic to want to be ruled by someone from your own country whos part of your nation.
Got that?<<
obozo shut the door forever on challenges to citizenship for POTUS/VP.
100% of the cases were turned back for standing. Not a single one was ever heard for merit.
Someone could have been born in any country by parents who have neer been here, raised there, visited here once, come over illegally, somehow get elected to POTUS and no one would be able to challenge it in court.
The requirement is a right without a remedy.
It sucks but that is the reality and pursuing it is a waste of political capital.
Recall Trump ran on the idea of defining Birthright citizenship - Jus Soli.
Everyone understands now that it’s out of control, that citizenship has been cheapened to the point that we know the Rat party will soon be sending voting registration to every citizen of Mexico, to save them the trouble of illegally immigrating here.
To go further and shrug his shoulders about something as egregious as Three Nationalities Harris being President is a total repudiation of the previous promises.
It may be pragmatic politics to say, “well, the Democrats can run her and we will let them” but then what - the day she stands in front of John Roberts, we’re supposed to say, “Oh Well”? Anyone on Earth is an American, they just haven’t gotten here yet?
Probably 200 million people in the country with unquestionable ties to it to choose from. Why do we need the H1B VP?
We all know she isn’t eligible but since Trump is going to win in a landslide it’s not worth the hassle.
True. My mother was born in Cuba, while her parents were on vacation. She spent all of two days in Cuba. Her parents were not citizens, but legal immigrants living in this country. So my mother was not a natural born citizen and therefore, I am not a natural born citizen.
Heels Up is no more eligible than I to run for President or Vice President.
>>f they choose, any citizen can pursue this since as citizens they have standing<<
The courts, including SCOTUS, decided the exact opposite.
The first (of many) barrier is to show harm and it would be impossible to draw a bright line between a POTUS’ actions and you as an individual citizen. “I don’t like what she did and it cost me in something (time, money, ability to do something)” is too vague. The harm needs to be direct AND the result of the law being broken. Most of the cases fell into this category.
That is the law.
