What is George Will's Problem?
American Thinker.com ^ | August 13, 2020 | Gene Comiskey

In reading George Will’s recent column (“The Difference between Trumpism and fascism”), I was struck by a few things: his elitist anti-Trump tone, his denigration of the President’s supporters and his lack of understanding of Donald Trump’s appeal. The thing which struck me most, however, was not a failure to know the past, but his inability to apply the lessons of history to the present. He recites the basics of the history of fascism while completely missing how that history applies to the current situation.

What is it about Donald Trump that so offends George Will? Does the President fail Will’s ideological purity test? Is it the tweeting? Is it that most of Donald Trump’s supporters probably never subscribed to National Review? Or is it something as petty as the recognition that most of the President’s supporters are not members of the elites? They don’t belong to the country clubs that so-called Republicans like George Will belong to, and probably prefer it that way.

It is interesting that in his recitation of the history of fascism, Mr. Will fails to see the obvious: that the historical circumstances that shaped it and the ideological theories which Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and others believed in, apply not to Donald Trump and his followers but to the very people who are trying to defeat the President and lead this country down a destructive path of rigid intellectual, economic, and social control.

One difference between the 20th century fascists and that of today is that the left has bypassed the brownshirt phase and gone straight to black. You don’t see Trump supporters attacking the police. You don’t see them burning down precinct houses or churches.

George Will is an actor. He plays the part of a beta conservative on TV and in newspapers. He's a prop.

The old style conservative/liberal schism is composed of actors who are playing for the same team, globalism. They're well paid to pay their parts. It's like when the NY Giants play the Green Bay Packers. The NFL wins. Will can lazily pontificate about nonsense like midnight basketball leagues, but he's supporting the same people as all the other globalists. After, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama, he was all on board with the 2016 election being Bush vs Clinton. That way, no matter which side won, the globalists won.

His problem with Trump is the scrapping of the Paris Accord, NAFTA and the Pacific Trade Deal, and ending the endless wars around the globe.

Want to know how effectively the actors on BOTH SIDES have polarized us? The left wing dirty hippies were right, and I was wrong. We should NEVER have gone into Iraq and kicked that Middle East ant nest. The neocons and corporate left like the wars, cause it's our kids that get killed over there, not theirs. So, Trump scales down the wars and withdraws troops. Are we joining hands and singing "We are the world?" NO. Because the media wants us divided and works to keep us divided.

I used to read the "National Review" when I was younger and was even a subscriber for a time during the 1980s and 1990s. It wasn't always a bad read but even in those glory days, it had an elitist "country club" feel to it. I never felt like I was part of that club. When William Buckley Jr departed the scene, it really went downhill. The final straw was the anti-Trump tone it took in 2016 and those button-down fake conservatives like George Will and Billy Kristol can go to hell.

I think Buckley would have been a Trumper and would be ashamed of what happened to this publication.

George Will is and always has been the trained, performing organ grinder monkey on the Democrat medias leash. Just like the vast majority of the MSM’s controlled opposition.

The election of DJT has lifted the veils and people are seeing these Wormtongues clearly for the first time.

The problem with George Will is that he is an arrogant, pompous ass, plain and simple.

George Will is, and has always been a neoconservative.

That tells you all anyone needs to know about him.

When I hear of George Will, I think of the lyric from Pink Floyd:

When we grew up and went to school,
there were certain teachers
who would hurt the children anyway they could
by pouring their derision upon anything we did
exposing any weakness however carefully hidden by the kids.

But in the town it was well known when they got home at night
their fat and psychopathic wives would thrash them within inches of their lives!

George Will, Bill Kristol, just washed-up neocons, no one cares what they think...

And this is exactly why he is so bitter...he always thought his was the voice of reason and logic, but his only appeal is to other insulated, condescending self-anointed "conservatives" who truly believe they know better than us deplorables.

Sorry George, your time of influence cratered when GW Bush ran back to hide in Texas.

I have been a NR subscriber for almost 30-years, but have been disgusted with the rag since Donald Trump was the obvious choice during the primaries.
They hate president Trump and I am tired of their Never Trump slant on EVERYTHING he does!!

Will not be renewing.

Bingo! Him and most of CONservative Inc. were nothing more than carnival barkers selling books and articles that were conservative to conservatives but not actually believing a word of what they were saying or writing. Hucksters and carnies was their trade never dreaming a President would actually implement the policies they claimed to support in their farcically publications and shows. Trump exposed them, their arrogance, their lies and their hypocrisy. CONservative Inc. is deader than AlGores personality and marriage. Will couldn’t support Reagan, I ignored the bespectacled liar from that point one, he’s full of it except now those he’s been conning, know the truth. Sorry George you a lying snobby liberal and the party is over...
