What is George Will's Problem?
American Thinker.com ^ | August 13, 2020 | Gene Comiskey

In reading George Will’s recent column (“The Difference between Trumpism and fascism”), I was struck by a few things: his elitist anti-Trump tone, his denigration of the President’s supporters and his lack of understanding of Donald Trump’s appeal. The thing which struck me most, however, was not a failure to know the past, but his inability to apply the lessons of history to the present. He recites the basics of the history of fascism while completely missing how that history applies to the current situation.

What is it about Donald Trump that so offends George Will? Does the President fail Will’s ideological purity test? Is it the tweeting? Is it that most of Donald Trump’s supporters probably never subscribed to National Review? Or is it something as petty as the recognition that most of the President’s supporters are not members of the elites? They don’t belong to the country clubs that so-called Republicans like George Will belong to, and probably prefer it that way.

It is interesting that in his recitation of the history of fascism, Mr. Will fails to see the obvious: that the historical circumstances that shaped it and the ideological theories which Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and others believed in, apply not to Donald Trump and his followers but to the very people who are trying to defeat the President and lead this country down a destructive path of rigid intellectual, economic, and social control.

One difference between the 20th century fascists and that of today is that the left has bypassed the brownshirt phase and gone straight to black. You don’t see Trump supporters attacking the police. You don’t see them burning down precinct houses or churches.

Will has never been a conservative.

And he’s on my Airport List.

His problem? 40 years living in Washington. You don’t do that unless you like big government.

Mr Will would rather bring down the country than help to build it up. His guy isn’t in the White House so he sides with the ‘burn it down’ troglodytes.

George Will is POd that most Trump supporters never heard of him, don’t listen to him, and have never donated to George Will approved “conservative” stink tanks. Because of that, he thinks they are deplorable.

George Will is a Lincoln-worshiping Illinois neo-con.

Conservatives are their own worst enemy.

Our current form of government is far from the Representative Republic and free market capitalism.

How does a conservative leader go from where we are, nearly fully a Socialist country if not borderline Fascist, and move to a Free Market Capitalistic Representative Republic?

We're going thorough a manufactured crisis that is not being wasted by the left - Trump needs to take into account those harmed by the take no prisoners politics of the Democrats.

If ignored, desperate people will opt for slavery if they think that's what it takes to get their next meal.

His problem is that he is a Leftist who wants people to think he is a Conservative.

Odd.

He has a perverse version of reverse cognitive dissonance.

George Will's problem is he never really got a chance to get his sports channel off the ground. George is a pure sports animal. Thats why he hosted GEORGE WILL'S SPORTS MACHINE!

He has never really been a conservative. He is a Romney-Republican, worshipped George Romney, thinks the (R) governor of Mass is a true republican instead of what he is, a RINO. He is hooked on the NE liberal fake republican kool-aid. Always was, still is.

Will’s problem is summed up very neatly by Romans 1:22.

Will’s principles are less important to him than his ego. He doesn’t want to lose the respect of the Washington in crowd.

For George Will, Bill Kristol, Mitt Romney, and the other RINOs and GOPelites.

We did not vote for a career politician.
We did not vote for a head pastor or chief physician.
We did not vote for a president that can read from a teleprompter eloquently scripted speeches vetted by a coterie of sycophants and ideologues.

We did not vote for a president who would grovel obsequiously before world leaders and apologize for America’s “failings”.

We did not vote for a limp-wristed, hand-wringing, bed-wetting, panty-waist, metrosexual milquetoast.

We voted for a hard-nosed, ass-kicking, street-fighting businessman who would put the interests of his country above the fragile sensibilities of our enemies and fair-weather “friends”.

Every black eye, every kick in the teeth, every insult and affront this president gives to the enemies of our freedom only makes us appreciate him all the more.

The democrat party, the GOP elites, the totalitarian globalists, the deep state, the EU, Academia, big media, big entertainment, big sports and all their sycophants, toadies, junkies and groupies have clearly demonstrated that they are committed, visceral enemies of our Creator-endowed rights and freedoms.

Your howls of disdain and shrieks of opprobrium are music to our ears.

To the charge that Donald Trump is some kind of fascist.

Does he have masked thugs roaming the streets assaulting people and destroying property?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he trying to limit speech?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he trying to diminish, even deprecate, the right to keep and bear arms?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he imposing limits on free exercise of religious conscience?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he conducting fishing expeditions looking into people’s backgrounds for possible crimes?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he trying to nationalize large swathes of the American economy?
Nope. That’s the democrats.
Is he threatening to activate the National Guard against American citizens to enforce an anti-constitutional law?
Nope. That’s the democrats.

To the charge that Donald Trump is a “Russian Agent”.

You are saying that powers hostile to the U.S. want to see the U.S. enjoying:

* Energy Independence for the first time in 70 years
* Major energy exporter in direct competition with Russia and OPEC
* Renegotiation of trade treaties to better represent American interests
* A revitalized, refurbished military
* More secure borders
* Heavier sanctions on Russia
* Heavier sanctions on Iran
* Withdrawal from the Iranian nuke deal
* Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord
* Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel
* Stronger ties than ever with Israel
And before the Chinese Communists unleashed their bioweapon ...
* Most booming economy perhaps ever
* Stock Market value increasing by 67% in 3 years
* GDP growth double or more than that of the 0bama years
* Largest ever migration of jobs and factories into the country
* Lowest unemployment rate in 50 years
* Lowest minority unemployment rate EVER

All of the above are the stated policy objectives of Donald Trump. All of them have been implemented, most with phenomenal success, even in the face of fierce, vitriolic, hateful opposition.

Ergo, in order to promote the lie that Donald Trump is an asset for powers that are hostile to the United States, you must be at least one of the following.
* a cynical reprobate
* brainwashed by cynical reprobates
* too stupid to walk and chew gum at the same time
