Supporters of former Vice President Joe Biden strongly approve of his choice of Sen. Kamala Harris of California as his 2020 running mate, a new Insider poll found.
Poll participants were asked: "Joe Biden has selected Sen. Kamala Harris of California as his running mate. How do you feel about this decision?"
Roughly 64% of self-declared Biden supporters said they were satisfied with the decision, with 46% stating they were "very satisfied with that selection" and 18% saying they were "somewhat satisfied with that selection."
Only 14% of Biden supporters expressed dissatisfaction with his selection of Harris as a running mate, the poll found.
Meanwhile, undecided voters were decidedly less impressed.
Only 25% of undecided voters people who said they hadn't decided between Biden and President Donald Trump, or who backed a third-party candidate said they were very or somewhat satisfied with Harris being on the ticket. Approximately 23% of undecided voters said they were somewhat or very dissatisfied that Biden tapped Harris.
Overall, about 39% of all voters expressed satisfaction with Harris as Biden's running mate, while roughy 21% said they were somewhat or very dissatisfied.

SurveyMonkey Audience polls from a national sample balanced by census data of age and gender. Respondents are incentivized to complete surveys through charitable contributions. Generally speaking, digital polling tends to skew toward people with access to the internet. SurveyMonkey Audience doesn't try to weigh its sample based on race or income. A total of 1,106 respondents were collected on August 11-12 with a margin of error plus or minus 3 percentage points and a 95% confidence level.
‘people who said they hadn’t decided between Biden and President Donald Trump’
in this highly politicized election, one of the most bitter contests in recent memory, I find it highly doubtful that more than a handful of these types exist...
Exactly what I said before heelsup was selected: VP candidate does not generally help but can hurt.
biteme went for maximum hurt. Well almost max, fauxahantus would have been worse.
I honestly wonder if a whole bunch of other prospective VP candidates turned down the offer before they settled on this mutant.
I’m sure the True Believers are happy.
But Harris did poorly in the primaries. She isn’t likable. In today’s climate, she “checks the box” and people who want to pass judgment based on skin color can quickly “approve” of the choice. But any truly Independent or swing voter really ought to look at the ticket and avoid a knee-jerk reaction. Is Joe too senile? Is she too radical? For the people who are actually Normal, I don’t think the Democrats have a compelling ticket.
Elections are not won by True Believers. Elections are won by the Undecided people who end up going one way or another.
The Democrats have a dilemma right off the bat: If they dont hide Harris and send her off just to do fundraisers behind the scenes, shes going to make Biden look awful awfully old, awfully inept, and just plain awfully awful.
That actually seems pretty high to me, I wonder if it's a coincidence that the number is pretty close to the black population? I know there has been a lot of talk that the black community hates Harris because of her history in incarcerating black men and the fact she tries to pass herself off as an African American women when in reality her mother was from India and her father was mixed race white and Indo-Jamaican (Jamaican Indian). So if she has any African blood at all it's on her fathers side and is a very, very small amount.
I kind of doubt many blacks will become Trump supporters over this, but they might well sit home on election day with "Pasty Pale old White Guy and Fake Black Women" on the ballot.
Contrarian point of view: the pick helps Biden. Many in the mushy middle are attracted to virtue signaling. More than ever. They know Biden is mentally “done”, and they feel better that they will be voting for his replacement in a “historic” “black” woman. All other issues surrounding Harris are irrelevant.
VP choices, at best, get you a state or two and do no damage on centrists. Harris is a caustic, polarizing figure for those people who know about her. If you don't know about her, what you will quickly learn is a) she's a woman of color who b) slept with a married man for political gain and who also c) jailed lots of minorities. This is not a great resume for a role where the main role & responsibility is "do no damage."
Just about every person Ive ever known who has worked in a professional environment has told me that the worst co-workers theyve ever had were black women. Take that for what its worth. Theres a reason why Harris did so poorly in the Democrat primaries ... even in her home state of California, for heavens sake.
*insert wrong gif here*
“Just about every person Ive ever known who has worked in a professional environment has told me that the worst co-workers theyve ever had were black women.”
I agree with that statement. I still feel it’s irrelevant to the mushy middle voter who simply needs to pull a lever to feel better about herself.
This is before harris own words will be used in tv ads, probably the worst pick he was told to make
Go back to 2016 and see how Hillary Clinton underperformed in almost every racial/gender demographic group. Voters do not like unlikable candidates.
As a woman I can tell you working with almost every woman is a nightmare. But fat angry liberal white ones to me are about the worst right up there with them.
Right here is the problem with the upcoming election. 64% + 46% + 18% = 128%. Jo&Ho will get 128% of the votes in many districts.
We need to overcome a level of cheating not seen since the era of Saddam's phoney elections.
Yeah, these "undecided voters" must have their heads in the sand, or maybe someplace else..
If the alleged "undecided voters" are impressed, then they don't seem to be really "undecided."
Put on your hipwaders in this polling seaason.
