Thursday on MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell Reports, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) weighed in on the possibility of President Donald Trump giving his speech accepting the Republican Party presidential nomination from the White House, despite some suggesting it could a violation of the Hatch Act.

I think its an outrage, Gillibrand lamented. President Trump continues to demean his office. He continues to break norms, and if anyone helps him do his speech, its in violation of the Hatch Act. So he may well be exempt, but again, to misuse federal resources for political gain is something that we do not tolerate and is illegal in many respects. So I hope he does not choose to again cross that line and continue to undermine the office of the presidency by doing things that are inappropriate and unethical.

She is a partier.
In what way is she sort of right?
Who?
What a crock. Every incumbent POTUS has used Air Force One, and all the other perqs of Office, when campaigning for reelection. Has the gentle lady blurted out her ignorance, her dishonesty or her green-eyed jealousy?
Please explain “in a way”
After three plus years of the democrats misusing and abusing their government offices and departments on a wholesale basis trying to get rid of Trump for the crime of beating Hillary, this dem senator says this? She must clank when she walks.
Which is one reason why we love him!
Breaking historic “norms” is not breaking the law.
The legal semantics is whether or not the White House makes a substantial contribution to Trump’s speech. Some could argue the mere location does. Some could argue that in these times the location itself would not matter.
What Trump could do is to make the speech while standing in the Rose Garden but with the camera focus not on the White House in any way.
Get the couch and smelling salts ready. She's clutching her pearls and starting to swoon.
What is this idiot prattling about? Someone tighten the straps on her jacket, please.
The democrat party is in violation of the constitution and, as a criminal organization, must be disbanded.
The Sink Emperor had no comment.
Do it from Trump Tower, come down the escalator again.
I’m saying that, technically, everything may not be squeaky clean.
But real life is messy. Laws don’t exist to punish people with technicalities, like they tried with Flynn. They exist to keep things civilized. That’s why cops don’t pull people for going 1 mph over - unless they have some other motive or it’s personal.
Her being office isn't, but it does violate common sense.
Partisan Media Shills update.
She’s an ignorant ass. Never mind that Trump would save the taxpayers millions of dollars in cost of Secret Service, air force one, transport of equipment, the list goes on. Never mind any of that.
Not if they do it on their own time, off the federal clock.
LMAO! Me too! Hence, the random remark!
