An Ohio churchgoer sparked a coronavirus outbreak that spread to more than 90 other people after he attended a service, Gov. Mike DeWine said.
The 56-year-old man, who was not identified, was infected with the virus when he attended church on June 14, news station WLWT reported.
Following the service, the virus “spread like wildfire” and 91 people throughout five counties developed symptoms, DeWine said.
“[It’s] very scary,” the Republican governor said during a Tuesday press conference, according to news station WKYC.
DeWine said that he’s sending a letter to the state’s faith leaders to discuss better ways to protect their worshipers.

The church I attend has been meeting for nearly 3 months after initially stopping meeting for 6-8 weeks.
We have about 150 attending. Normally we have about 220-230. Lots of higher risk are staying home and viewing online.
We meet Sunday mornings for 2 hours, Sunday nights for one hour and Wednesday evening for about an hour.
We sing and we take communion every Sunday.
Preventative measures? Fortunately, our auditorium is large enough that we skip every other bench. Family units stay separate on same benches by at least 6 feet. Communion servers wear a mask and rubber gloves, members do not touch or handle the trays serving bread and juice. Pieces of bread are prepared and served in individual cups, like juice.
75% wear a mask when entering and leaving. Most everyone takes their mask off when services begin. I never wear one.
We have 2 members who caught COVID from family members, but they have not been attending during the Pandemic.
We have had 2 to attend who tested positive and had symptoms. One ended up being hospitalized for a few days. She is home recovering and doing fine.
The other had mild symptoms, was never hospitalized and he is recovering fine.
Neither of those two were present at the same assembly while contagious. They did not give it to each other.
NO ONE ELSE HAS BEEN SICK.
This pandemic can be easily contained as it works it’s way through the population by being smart and careful, without destroying our church gatherings and our economy.
We know he got it in church how?

BTW - been to church many times in the last few months. Over 60. Doing fine. And no, I don’t wear a mask.

Testing positive and dying are not the same.
They force them To be tested after these things and a number are positive...meaning they’ve already had it. What’s the big deal?
No, there are CURRENT and PAST tests.
Maybe he caught it there? Maybe some of the other people already had it?
