The Hallmark Channel, which portrays itself as the countrys leading destination for quality family entertainment, has announced it will feature in the coming months LGBTQ storylines, characters, and actors.
Diversity and inclusion is a top priority for us and we look forward to making more programming announcements in the coming months, with projects featuring LGBTQ storylines, characters, and actors, Hallmark said in a recent statement.
We are committed to creating a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome.
In December, the channel apologized for removing an ad from Zola.com, the wedding planning site, featuring two brides kissing. Hallmark reinstated it after backlash from gay rights advocates.
Crown Media, Hallmarks parent company, had pulled several ads for Zola after they led to protests. Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and William Shatner criticized the move and the hashtag #BoycottHallmarkChannel trended on Twitter at one point.
Earlier this week, a decision was made at Crown Media Family Networks to remove commercials featuring a same-sex couple. The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as weve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused. Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision, Mike Perry, president and chief executive of Hallmark Cards, said in a statement at the time.
Our mission is rooted in helping all people connect, celebrate traditions, and be inspired to capture meaningful moments in their lives. Anything that detracts from this purpose is not who we are. We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused."
Conservative group One Million Moms said in a petition, The Hallmark Channel has always been known for its family-friendly movies. Even its commercials are usually safe for family viewing. But unfortunately, that is not the case anymore.
Shame on Hallmark for airing commercials with same-sex couples.
How adorable!!! (puke) I just added baseball to my list of “never agains”. Now Hallmark!?
The Hallmark Channel’s latest offering: Christmas with poop.
So now those lighthearted romantic comedy Hallmark movies, are going to feature “lesbian” characters? In being “inclusive”, will they really increase the audience; that is the question.
Lifetime Channel 2.0..............................
At one time, my wife would have been crushed to hear this. But after years of watching the channel, she is sort of burnt out on it. Their movies all made on the same template have become too predictable to sit through now.
It’s probably bigoted of me to ask, but what is the sex or gender of the officiant at this wedding? He/she/it has a certain androgynous look about him/her/it. And I wouldn’t be surprised if that was intentional.
In anticipation, we let our monthly Hallmark fee lapse last year. We cut our cable 3 years ago this month, so we can add or stop many extra channels. Also, if they go ballistic left wing they don’t get a monthly fee from us.
I’d have to start watching them so I could boycott them. Oh well. My viewing now is all on-demand streaming. This IS the society we now live in. We need religious revival. Or judgment. I prefer to pray for Door #1.
Just another reason to not watch anything made in the last 10-20 years. Especially since there are literally hundreds of thousands of hours of content available for free on the internet that I have never seen. Currently wading through Paladin and The Virginian.
I, nor my family need their wokeness.
LOL, I know what you mean.
I was just talking to someone the other day about how these movies are all so similar.
The typical plot is, how some busy single career woman, with a high powered professional career in some big city, returns to her small town hometown for Christmas, and she starts getting involved with a man there, and she realizes there is more to life than her career.
And there are some variations, such as, the man might be an old high school boyfriend, and there is a history there. In that case, the old high school boyfriend is single himself, so there are possibilities with him.
Or perhaps the man owns a ranch, and she realizes how much she loves the animals he has, and she dreams of the life she could have, if only she gets out of the rat race in the big city.
Isnt there a gay channel called Logo?
just give up a heads up Hallmark....we’re watching your channel to give us a rest from the rest of the horrible world.....you join em, you loose us....
Forget hallmark.

They need to take the 1980’s-90’s Friday night “Cinimax after dark” route and produce fine quality flicks like “Psycho Lesbo Nymphomaniacs”. They would lock in the teenage boy crowd, hands down.
is there a chance that you could post where you are seeing these shows? or start a thread about it.
I bought a roku and have not been able to find any decent content for free or low cost.
Love not the world says the Bible. The world seems to be making this easy.
Basic template: Person A has a lifestyle which they had not questioned, but then they have an opportunity to re-examine their life and realize that they could find greater happiness by making a big change with Person B.
In a different world, you might see a movie with a Big City Lesbian coming home for Christmas and finding herself actually attracted to the guy who runs the hardware store.
Of course, no one would make a movie with that plot today. Certainly not Hallmark.
They won’t increase their audience because a lot more will drop Hallmark than will start watching. It’s a lose/lose situation for them! Who coulda seen that coming?
