A shining example of why we’re not a democracy. The fact of the matter is we’ve known it’s a “problematic” name for 60 years. But didn’t care and didn’t care and didn’t care, until finally, there was care. This name change has been coming for a while. The handwriting was on the wall before Snyder bought the team, it’s only because he’s a pigheaded jerk it took this long. And really he’s only doing it because his business partners want it done. Snyder is too dense to have his own ideas.

Reminds me of Tottenham Hotspurs, which have always been known as the “Jewish” club in London, their supporters even call themselves the “Yid Army”.

A few years ago I went to my aunts house for Thanksgiving dinner when the news was agitating to change the Redscins name. In a house of mostly Yurok indians my cousin sayed it was bullshit. Nobody disagreed.

I hope that NFL revenue...that is,revenue to the League office *and* revenue to each and every team...drops precipitously between now and next February.

The name change was done to placate FedEx who writes a $200 million check to the team.Yup. Unless those OK with "Redskins" are going to pony up that money, the change is a done deal.

The Redskins are swamp dwellers. 70% not germane to their team.

It would be nice if Redskins, Aunt Jemima and all the other targeted brands would make a joint statement that they refuse to cave in to the cancel culture.

Poll: Less Than 30 Percent Of Americans Say Redskins Should Change Their Name
The only voices that should matter to Redskins ownership are those of Native Americans. Poll them - if they don't like the name, why insult a group of people? If they don't mind, tell everyone else to go pound sand. But it's Daniel Snyder's team, he's free to call his team whatever he wants.

I never understood the Federal Express connection to this controversy.
Yes I know they are paying for the naming rights for FedEx Field. And they signed up for the rights and paid for those rights in conjunction with the team having the name of Redskins at that time. How are they in any position to demand that the name be changed otherwise what? Otherwise they won’t pay this year’s annual installment payment for the naming rights?
If that happened, then there would be a messy lawsuit involving Federal Express, and possibly the Redskins or whoever owns that Stadium would simply sell the naming rights to some other company instead. ,

So elightest / big woke Business and their mush brained Marxist Millennial foot soldiers have told the entire country what is best. Have any of Indian tribes ever has a referendum and voted on how they felt about it? Not what some bought off Tribal leaders say, the whole Tribes. I'm guessing no,Indians are the least of these Marxist concerns.

Professional sports make money through ticket sales, licensed merchandise, and TV commercials. The babies yelling loudest don’t buy ford pickup trucks or drink bud light, they don’t show up in stadiums and pay $70 for a ticket, and they sure don’t buy football jerseys. The teams know this, the advertisers know this, but they don’t want to becomw an object for fixation by the crybullies by being the first to say it.

Praeger laughed hysterically and said hed be overjoyed because finally after 5000 years someone would be cheering for us.That is the perfect example of taking the wind from their sails. Shuts em up and flusters them all at the same time.

Yup. Who cares? A business decision. Its a sign of the times, and no more. The NFL makes no money off of me. If I wanna watch millionaires play a game for my amusement, I will, but Im not invested in it.
