The Supreme Court on Wednesday lifted another injunction on the Trump administration's rapid push to resume federal death sentences this week.
A divided court lifted one of a handful of injunctions temporarily blocking the execution of a man whose lawyers say suffers from severe dementia.
The vote was 5-4 with the liberal justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor dissenting.

LOL!!!!
Only in America can you take so long to execute someone they can age and go into dementia.
He was convicted in 2003!
Is his victim less dead than if she were raped and murdered by a smart person? Let the punishment fit the crime not some Disneyfied version of the criminal.
Yep. She’s trying to be elevated. She might actually be a bit old for the Supreme Court, and usually they pick from the circuit court level rather than the district court level for SCOTUS, so a “promotion” to the circuit court level is probably more likely, but this kind of activism definitely screams, “Pick me! Pick me!”
No wonder the Obama judgette sided with the dementia criminal.
John Roberts: Okay with killing prisoners that actually did something, not okay with killing innocent unborn.
How is RBG voting?
Isn’t she in the hospital for an infection?
Who is actually voting in her name?
I believe that the event did not occur until after she went in.
leaving him alive with Alzheimers might be worse punishment than executing him.Can he stay with you or should we just send you the bill?
Who B dat?
Still waiting for Nidal Hasan to be cured of his oxygen habit.
Valid point. Roberts has turned traitor on a handful of important cases but is nowhere near as bad as a far-left liberal activist judge wearing a GOP jersey, like for example Earl Warren.
Impy pointed out that out to be when I rating GOP presidents success in naming solid conservative judges, and I rated GWHB 1-1, GWB 1-1, and Trump 0-2 (NEITHER Trump appointee has proven to be a solid conservative who will overturn leftist "precedents" like Roe v. Wade and homo marriage)
Impy said that was unfair and noted that wobbly conservatives are nowhere near as bad as outright leftist scum and said I should put three categories.
But to me, if really only a win-lose scenario with SCOTUS appointments -- you either succeed at moving the court to the right with your appointee, or you fail. There is no "almost succeeded" category, just like is only a WIN-LOSE outcome for a football team at the Superbowl, not a third category for "played really well overall but didn't quite make it"
In any case, FReepers routinely howl at Roberts stabbing us in the back from time to time and act like's a RAT judge in a R jersey, but Trump's faux "originalist" judge Gorsuch has actually ended up Robert's LEFT on at least three notable cases already: 1) Ruling nearly half of Oklahoma is an Indian Reservation (5-4 ruling, Roberts voted with the conservative bloc but Gorsuch was the "lone GOP judge" voting with the four RAT judges), 2) Being on the LOSING, liberal side that OPPOSED the 5-4 decision upholding that a criminal defendant can be sentenced for violating his supervised release (it was 5-4 in our favor because Ruth Bader GINSBURG of all people, voted with the conservatives, while Gorsuch voted with Kagan, Sotomayor, and Breyer!), and 3) Again being the "lone GOP judge" to vote with 4 commies on a 5-4 decision striking down a federal law that punishes Criminal Defendants as 'unconstitutionally vague' (FReepers tried to spin that one as "Scalia voted the same way", which was BS, Scalia's decision was on a 9-0 case that had totally different circumstances).
Now, Gorsuch is nowhere near as bad as an "Earl Warren" type judge either, but if FReepers are going to screech about Bush appoint Roberts, maybe they should be having second thoughts about applauding Trump for appointing Gorsuch.
When things are happening at 2 am as on some of these executions
Or one or more justices are on vacation or out of town speaking you dont
Really expect them to be in the building 24/7 the clerk of court, who actually issues the order has signals to know that the justice all of them have authorized the vote the clerk gets. And the lawyers and executioners have signals to know the clerks issuance is authentic.
So its not just RBG
Yep, the sooner the better for that murdering cur.
Her name is Symone Sanders. Theres lots of photos of her if you google her name. She used to work for Bernie Sanders. Shes a snarky leftist race-baiting POS.
Actually,I don’t believe that that many voters think that way. Just a few conceited Richard’s on this board who wish people would think more highly of them.
Fair enough point, there is no denying that Gorsuch is to the left of Scalia (though Kav seems better than Kennedy so Trump should be 1-1 on your scale, no?), I just rate them based on how they vote as opposed to comparison with their predecessor.
As for Roberts, no he’s obviously not a pondscum commie and pretending he is one is as dumb as pretending a squishy GOP Senator is just as bad as Bernie Sanders.
He certainly appears to be worse than Gorsuch though.
If I had to bet money on whether Kavanaugh would do that, I think its more than likely he WON'T, so I am assuming Trump is 0-2 at this point. There's a slim possibility he could still attain a 1-1 score though, maybe a few years down the road, Kavanaugh will pleasantly surprise us, and write a forceful decision striking down homo marriage as the "law of the land".
Even a lot of hardcore Trump supporters had qualms about Kavanaugh, but (like myself) held our nose and backed him because we assumed he'd be better than Anthony Kennedy, and after the Dems went on an insane jihad to destroy Kavanaugh. He was some mediocre, mildly conservative judge, but the left portrayed him as a sexual predator, Attalia-the-Hun type madman who was Jesse Helms on steroids.
Like the Trump fanboys, my ONE hope was Kavanaugh actually WOULD end up voting like that on the court, solely as "payback" to spite the RATS who tried to ruin his lifelong career and reputation. Alas, I don't think its happened and I do not think Kavanaugh has turned out to be that strong of a conservative.
There is no doubt Kavanaugh is better than Roberts though, and Gorsuch for that matter.
The weird thing is that Gorsuch was CLEARLY a WORSE pick than Kanvauahgh, but had virtually no opposition from any mainstream conservative group (shades of 95% of conservatives drinking the "Souter is Bork 2.0" kool-aid in 1990)
And speaking of that, George H.W. Bush's stated goal was to name a judge that would be a "home run for conservatives" and "Bork without a paper trail"
So he was 1-1 in accomplishing that goal.
He’s kicked the oxygen habit.
Now, when is Nidal Hasan scheduled?
