CLEVELAND, Ohio Cuyahoga Countys enforcement of Gov. Mike DeWines mask order will largely rely upon complaints filed by the public, rather than proactive policing, County Executive Armond Budish announced Friday.
Individuals who see others failing to abide by the mask requirement should call in complaints to the countys new hotline at 216-698-5050, or file complaints online at cuyahogacounty.us/maskexperience.
County workers will then contact the subject of the complaints either individuals or businesses to let them know a complaint has been filed, Budish said. Complaints also will be forwarded to the Board of Health, and the relevant city or village.
This is not intended to be going out and finding people not wearing masks. We want people to wear their masks We want people to do it voluntarily, Budish said.
If the county receives repeated complaints or cases of serious non-compliance, the Sheriffs Department could investigate or potentially file charges.
Local municipalities and police departments also could respond to violations however they see fit, which could include proactive policing, Budish said.
Even though sheriffs deputies or local police can enforce the order, Budish said theres not enough people in law enforcement throughout the county to track down people, chase them around and figure out who we can go after for not wearing a mask.
People can also file complaints directly with the Board of Health or their local governments, though Budish said the county established its hotline to better allow the Board of Health to focus on contact tracing and testing rather than mask enforcement.
If the Board of Health determines certain places are continuously ignoring the mask order, the board may reach out to local authorities to address the problem, Health Commissioner Terry Allan said. Otherwise, the board intends to work with people and give them time to understand and comply with the governors mandate, Allan said.
Violating the governors order is a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $750 fine, Budish said.
I’m glad I don’t live near you. At least I hope I don’t.
You are correct, it was a public records release and those who made the reports were distressed to find out that their complaints did not stay anonymous.

I am getting alarmed. It has got to point that I no longer can make comments about the abject stupidity going on in this country. Can’t find a starting point.
Maybe we are reaching a point where history will step in and erase the United States as a nation for being too freaking stupid to continue existing. Either that or all these people where this is happening better get off their lazy cowardly asses and show some fight.
Has Trump addressed this? Amazing the stuff he does Tweet about, while staying silent on sh*t like this. I don’t get it.
The fight starts here with the keyboard warriors.
To the trenches!
You left out Kojack (or whatever his miserable name is).
Lemme guess, your president of your HOA.
I live in Cuyahoga, but am 2 minutes from the Medina county line.
Nobody was wearing masks, or wearing them improperly everywhere I went today.
I gave not a rats ass either.
“Soon itll be you cant buy or sell without a mask. The todays version of the Mark of the Beast.”
It appears that the RFID nanochip injected with the vaccine will serve as the Mark of the Beast. This is no tinfoil; publicly described in stock offerings, technical papers, FDA documents.
And very likely your hand or forehead (maybe at the same time as temperature) will be scanned to read the ID.
“The fight starts here with the keyboard warriors.”
Thomas Paine used that version in his day to good effect.
Kind of early, are you being snotty or just a prick?
kinda hard to have any meaningful voter ID if all have to wear a mask at the voting booth
Oh, great! Digital Karens.
Wonder what they'll say when the scanning process begins.
.....”Got a few looks from other customers...almost as if we were lepers”......
I suspect people are afraid because their mask doesn’t protect them if you could be a carrier or have no symptoms yet. especially if they’re older.
With so many conflicting opinions about masks everyones in a tough place if they wear or not.
That has got to be the most hilarious mask yet!...I’m rolling in laughter!
Trump puts things out there to see what the reaction is, be it wanting to see how the left reacts or the general public....especially when he's in negotiations or just prior...or is planning his response.
be patient.....
Should flood it with fake calls
