McMaster restricts SC alcohol sales to slow spread of COVID-19 among young people

In an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus among younger people, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster is restricting when bars and restaurants can serve alcohol.

Starting Saturday, establishments will not be able to serve alcohol past 11 p.m. under McMaster’s new order. Bars and restaurants caught serving alcohol past 11 p.m. face suspension of their liquor licenses.

“We know that young adults who are rapidly contracting the virus and spreading it into our communities frequently congregate in late-night atmospheres which simply are not conducive to stopping its continued transmission,” McMaster said. “This measured, carefully tailored approach will lessen the opportunity for South Carolinians to put themselves and their loved ones in harm’s way.”

“This is a mandate, this is an order that the state can enforce,” said McMaster who has said it would be impossible to enforce a statewide mask mandate.

What an odd virus...spread by alcohol, but cured by rioting.

Gee, why not just restrict them to only going out from 9AM to 6PM.

And knows when the clock strikes 11PM.

I'm beginning to think that one of the effects of COVID is that it destroys politicians' brains.

Hey worse I asked why don’t you just bring back the 19th amendmenand Han alcohol?

The behavior of these politicians now it’s starting to get quite hilarious and it’s really separating the wheat from the chaff

I heard DeSantis the other day and he was perfect right on the money using science analyzing what’s really happening considering the economy and everything

Meanwhile the liberal Hispanic mayor of Miami Dade is terrified got everybody to stay home closing the beaches and kill everybody to wear masks when it’s like 95° out at 95% humidity

The mask thing is the last liberal hold out -what else do they have?

You’re now finally getting all these little liberal governors in whatever trying to impose their little mask requirements on everybody here way way way late to the game

And look at the mask thing is complete BS and it’s easily provable I don’t care what anybody tells me

About 5 minutes to to 11.....Everyone will order several drinks and line’m up. The bartender will put buckets of ice on the bar if necessary.

McMaster sounds racist. Needs a name change to McPrimary.

Slow the spread. There you have it. An admission that this is all designed to drag it out as long as possible.

Is this the state that doesn’t trust bartenders to know how to pour booze out of a full sized bottle?

‘An admission that this is all designed to drag it out as long as possible.’

indeed; and they’re doing an excellent job of it, because the sheeple accept it...there are actually people out there-men, even, who should now better, that accept at face value the bogus total death figure...

I'm beginning to think that one of the effects of COVID is that it destroys politicians' brains.

In fairness, it wouldn't take much of a virus to do that.

Exactly. The virus is weakening. If it was even all that strong to begin with. Time to get it over with. The only people who should be sheltering in place are those most vulnerable to it and even that should be voluntary.
