Justin Timberlake is calling for the removal of Confederate monuments across the country.
The singer, who is from Tennessee, posted his comments on Instagram on Monday along with a video on the subject from the American Civil Liberties Union.
America was built by men who believed in and benefitted from racism. Plain and simple, Timberlake said in the caption. ...those men who proudly owned and abused Black people are STILL celebrated all over the country.
Timberlake cited a statistic that there are about 1,848 Confederate statues in the country.
More than half are in The South, and its not acceptable, he said. No one should be protecting the legacies of confederate leaders and slave owners. If we plan to move forward, these monuments must come down.
The pop star emphasized that the statues removal does not erase our countrys vile history of oppression but instead represents a symbol of respect for Black people in America.
Calls to remove Confederate statues and monuments were reignited after video of George Floyds arrest and death circulated the country. Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died after a now-former Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
Protests erupted nationwide after Floyds death, leading some demonstrators to vandalize and topple monuments of Confederate leaders and controversial historical figures.
A recent Quinnipiac University poll showed that a narrow majority of respondents approve of removing Confederate statues, and that voters are split on renaming military bases that are named after Confederate leaders.
President Trump has vowed to veto this year's defense policy bill if it includes an amendment to rename these military bases.
He has also condemned protesters advocating for the removal of statues, saying they want to "overthrow the American Revolution."
F ing scum bag scalawag. Another example of how money and fame have nothing to do with intelligence and class.
a fading pop star looking for attention?
They were going to use an "incident" like this to disrupt the election and attack Trump over "racism".
Floyd was as good as any other dead black body.
Why don’t the North make the South secede from the Union?
I don’t know; leather jacket, beard, shaved head.
Looks like a NAZI, SKINHEAD, ARYAN BROTHERHOOD, WHITE POWER LYNCHER to me.
Better AUNTIEFA or BLM him real quick.
My point: Just another "celebrity" caught up in his or her own SELF-IMPORTANCE!

This Red Dupe commie sympathizer gives the game away. This is NOT about Confederate statues at all. He’s taking direct aim at George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
Isn’t he an oldies act now?
20 years in the music biz is long in the tooth in the pop kiddie racket.
Let’s get rid of the Communist Party as well, in all its different names (CPUSA, Workers’ World, Socialist Party, Socialist Workers Party, Internationale Green Party...)
This is it. This is the picture that killed music.Yep, that's holiday-parade-float-strutting-boy-band veteran Justin Timberlake wearing an MC5 t-shirt on the cover of a hip-hop magazine, creating what scientists call an "inverse cultural self-suck" wherein black is white, square is round, and Justin Timberlake is taken seriously as an artist.
Not that it'll ever happen, but if this writer should EVER run into Mr. T, I will kindly hold him upside down until he names three MC5 songs. Don't say I didn't warn him.
See, he could have worn an Aerosmith or Led Zep shirt and aroused no suspicion whatsoever. He'd have successfuly shown his vintage street cred without sticking his neck out too far because, based on MY experience, anyone wearing an MC5 is gonna be seen as a poseur by any and all truly discerning rock fans until they prove otherwise...
Al Gore’s daddy was from Tennessee and filibustered the 1964 civil rights act.
>>Musician, writer, producer, jerk, came from a successful year-class of Mouseketeers:
Who did they suck in the business to get ahead?
They were trying to do this with the Georgia Gentle Jogger studying electrical works repeatedly in a house under construction.
When the narrative fell apart they hide to find someone new.
Nobody is talking about that Georgia case anymore.
Yes - they were trying to frame that as "a lynching"...
together with Robert Byrd of West Virginia and Strom Thurmond.
They call George Floyd’s death “a lynching”
