A U.S. Army soldier is facing charges after allegedly giving classified military information to a neo-Nazi Satanist group, a U.S. Attorneys Office statement said Monday.
Ethan Melzer, 22, a private in the U.S. Army, allegedly planned an attack on his army unit by sending sensitive details including location, movements and security, to members of the Order of the Nine Angles, the statement says.
He is charged with multiple conspiracy charges, including attempting to murder U.S. nationals and military service members, and conspiring to murder and maim in a foreign country. He is also charged with providing material support to terrorists. (RELATED: Knife Assault In UK Investigated As A Terrorist Attack, American Among 3 Casualties)
As alleged, Ethan Melzer, a private in the U.S. Army, was the enemy within. Melzer allegedly attempted to orchestrate a murderous ambush on his own unit by unlawfully revealing its location, strength, and armaments to a neo-Nazi, anarchist, white supremacist group. Melzer allegedly provided this potentially deadly information intending that it be conveyed to jihadist terrorists, acting U.S. attorney Audrey Strauss said in the release.
As alleged, Melzer was motivated by racism and hatred as he attempted to carry out this ultimate act of betrayal.
Melzer joined the U.S. Army in 2018 and joined the Order of the Nine Angles (O9A) by 2019, according to the statement.
He allegedly reviewed propaganda from terrorist groups like ISIS, which the O9A has expressed admiration for. Melzer allegedly kept an iCloud account with an ISIS-issued document that described the murders of U.S. personnel in April 2020.

....... Satanism is now ... the new Goth movement of yesterday (Ya .... It’s gotten worse) ..... It’s fairly popular among liberal or parental rebellion kids .
I'm confused.
Must be a very bad typo.
Christian theology recognizes nine orders of ANGELS.
I only know of three "orders" of ANGLES: Right, Acute, and Obtuse.
From the gov link, a lot more there, says “racist”. Usually the mil is very mixed, so who/what was he “racist” against? Says “white supremacist”. There’s something that isn’t clear.

Melzer allegedly attempted to orchestrate a murderous ambush on his own unit by unlawfully revealing its location, strength, and armaments to a neo-Nazi, anarchist, white supremacist group, said Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss for the Southern District of New York. As alleged, Melzer was motivated by racism and hatred as he attempted to carry out this ultimate act of betrayal. Thanks to the efforts of the agents and detectives of the JTTF, our partners in the Departments of Defense and State, and the career prosecutors of this office, a hate-fueled terrorist attack against American soldiers has been thwarted.
As alleged, Ethan Melzer sought to facilitate a deadly mass attack on his fellow service members by disclosing sensitive information to multiple extremists, including al-Qaida. The FBIs top priority remains protecting Americans from terrorist attacks, at home and abroad, and this case highlights the outstanding work of the FBIs Joint Terrorism Task Forces, along with our U.S. military partners, to identify and disrupt threats like this one against our men and women in uniform, said Assistant Director Jill Sanborn of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division.
A couple of years in and he is a private? He sounds like he has had a couple of Article 15s.
He just needs to give the Hillary Clinton defense about not knowing it was classified.
What’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.
Thanks.
Inverted irregular Septagram with four bisected points and three non-bisected points.
Looks like a lot more than nine angles to me.
While it could never happen as I've been a civilian for decades, mister Melzer would very probably not want me on his court member panel.
