Joe Biden Did Not Sponsor or Co-sponsor Any Juneteenth Bills in Senate

Former Vice President Joe Biden did not sponsor or co-sponsor any of the six bills recognizing Juneteenth during his time in the U.S. Senate, though he is now attempting to champion the holiday.

Juneteenth commemorates the day that slaves in Galveston, Texas, were informed — on June 19, 1865 — that they had been freed by President Abraham Lincoln in the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years before.

A search of GovTrack records of congressional bills, which is a complete record of all legislation dating back to 1973 — the year Biden entered the Senate — finds that Biden neither sponsored no co-sponsored any of the six bills that were introduced to commemorate the day:

Few had even heard of Juneteenth until fairly recently. The original “Juneteenth” took place in Galveston TX. When I lived in TX in the 1960s no one ever mentioned it. I don’t think I ever heard of it until about the 1980s or 1990s.

Remember the dems were the KKK-now the same white dems are killing black babies. The problem is NOT Trump or the republicans. Blacks still support those that lynched them and kill their babies. When will you wake up and learn. Abortions kills more black babies in 4 days than all the lynchings combined. The white dems did the lynchings and now they abort black babies.

Juneteenth is as fake as Cinco de Mayo,Kwanzaa and Earth Day.

If we are going to "celebrate" the freed slaves by the mostly WHITE UNION soldiers, millions of whom were KIA and permanently damaged, maybe people need to get the shine boxes and polish those boots.

I used to enjoy political articles on TMZ because the comments were epic. Now I’m not seeing any stories you can leave comments on. Am I missing something or did they close down comment boards on TMZ?

It was also my older brother’s birthday. We enjoyed every birthday and actually celebrated that day as a holiday of sorts here in Texas. It was always a good time with little league baseball in full bloom, lot’s of sun and heat and we had ice cream and watermelon to keep us energized.

May my brother rest in peace, he was always a good brother, a good friend to everyone and loved all his friends no matter their color, name etc. He could tell you all the baseball stats ranging from the old days until the current season.

Im not 100% sure but this is my take so far. Trump has spent 3.5 years keeping his base happy by just doing what he said. He has an enthusiastic base that will vote for him no matter what. Somehow, now, the focus is on black plight. So much of the national discourse is about what you have done and what you will do for the black community. The black community is the Biden base. Will the Democrats spend the entire election fighting for their base while Trump also spends the entire election fighting for their base? How can they win fighting for the people they usually win by 90%? If this works it will be studied for a very long time.

How about taking it this way. Emancipation Day is a holiday for all Americans—not just blacks. Those slaves didn’t (for the most part) free themselves. White folks, starting with Lincoln and millions of Union soldiers had a decisive hand in it. A victory for us all.

“Joe Biden Did Not Sponsor or Co-sponsor Any Juneteenth Bills in Senate”

That is about the only good thing he has done in the senate. What with Martin Luther King day, black history month , made up kwanzaa holiday, now we need another Federal holiday, Juneteenth, as a sop for the racial narcissism of one particular group in America. I am done celebrating skin color.

When asked what month Juneteenth falls in, biden answered, “Could someone check to see if my diaper is full?”
