A police officer involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor will be fired, the Louisville, Kentucky, mayor announced Friday.
Louisville Metro Police Officer Brett Hankison was one of three officers involved in the shooting that took place on March 12 when they conducted a no-knock warrant.
Mayor Greg Fischer said LMPD Chief Rob Schroeder is initiating termination procedures, but could not offer more details.
"Unfortunately, due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both the Chief and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of this decision," Fischer said in a statement.

No knock warrants served on previously unarrested people should be stopped.
SWATting of people is one of these bad occasions.
Agreed.
Rand is trying to do something. Lets support him!
What about the judge that issued it in the first place?
they are never held accountable
I think it goes back to an 1983 law. Biden probably voted for it!
Keep in mind that a no knock warrant is signed by a judge BEFORE execution. Such warrants are extremely rare, as the officers must convince the judge that certain exigent circumstances exist to circumvent the usual knock-notice requirement. Such circumstances usually include eminent danger to occupants ( eg hostage) or a sound reason to believe that the evidence sought will be destroyed.
Like defunding the police, beware what you ask for.
So, anyone can come up with a fake reason to get this. How do you think so many SWATtings happen? From no proof, you have a random caller to 911 who simply has to say, I saw a man holding a gun to the head of a child as he went into the house at 1501 Maple Drive.
That is all you need for proof to No Knock the elderly woman or CCL guy at 1501 Maple Drive.
You have no concept of what you speak.
Is this the woman that was shot and killed her window?............
I believe she was shot 8 times in her bed.
Oh, then this is another incident.
The one I was talking about was a cop shot a woman thru her window while she sitting on her couch.................
Courts are supposed to be neutral parties that the citizens can go to in order to get protection from government abuses. However, they have long since merged with the government they are supposed to protect citizens against.
Is that the same high threshold as that for FISA warrants?
There are so many incidents freepers have posted but only this one is getting some attention..
Justice for ALL the victims!
Didn’t they use a no Knock Warrant when they arrested 67 Year Old Robert Stone and frightene his Wife who has Health Issues?
Talk about a threat...
Absolute immunity.
If it is a hostage situation or a terrorist attack, I can see it, but it is not worth an innocent person's life just to keep someone from flushing some drugs.
No..lol. no.
Exigent circumstances require no warrant at all, so your reasoning is unsound.
No knock is a relic of the War on Drugs. It’s another government overreach that is abused on a regular basis and results in deaths and maimings of both citizens and police.
It’s based on an unconstitutional legal theory that the end justifies the means. It’s wrong and should be ended.
Unfortunate simply because such incidences are more than they should be. Defunding the police and all that trash talk is a bunch of nonsense, but making no-knock and similar dynamic police actions ONLY limited to the types of cases that warrant them is prudent. Too many people, of all races, have been hurt or killed in wrong-address and swatting raids.
Dynamic police raids are important since there are instances where heavily armed officers need to move fast and hard, but to be honest such instances are rare and far between.
Same thinking about police vehicles by the way - sure, there are instances where officers require a V-shaped-hull mine-resistant small-arms-fire-resistant Armored Personnel Carrier. With the officers basically dressed like they are DEVGRU or DELTA or FBI HRT, including having grenade launchers (an actual case). For example, if there is a major terrorist attack.
But for the MOST part police only need their cruisers, armed with Glock/M&P/SiG hand guns, a shotgun next to them, and an M4 in the trunk.
Not every officer involved incident needs to be something out of the original RoboCop movies.
