Sen. Lindsey Graham kicked off a Senate hearing Tuesday on police brutality by contrasting his experience with police with that of his fellow South Carolina GOP colleague Sen. Tim Scott to illustrate the problem with policing today and to make the case for federal reform legislation.
Scott, the Senate's lone black Republican, revealed in an emotional 2016 speech that he was stopped seven times in one year by law enforcement and experienced discrimination even on Capitol Hill as a sitting senator.
Tim and I have completely different experiences with the cops," Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in his opening remarks. "There is no getting around that. It is now time to have an honest conversation about why is that? How can it be that if you're a United States senator from South Carolina, and you're black, you get stopped five or six times? And you're white, you never get stopped?
Graham said he's learned to understand the fright black men have of police and how getting pulled over can be a "traumatic experience."
Every black man in America apparently feels threatened when they're stopped by the cops," Graham said. "It's not 99 percent. It's like 100 percent."
"I've never been stopped," Graham, R-S.C., continued. "And when I see a cop behind me, the first thing I think about is 'what did I do wrong and can I talk myself out of this ticket.' There's literally no fear. And I wouldn't like to live in a country where I'd be afraid to be stopped."

I don’t think anyone likes being stopped by a cop, retard.
Also, Black people who aren’t in the process of committing a crime have no more reason to be afraid that you.
So - who doesn't feel threatened? But I don't pee my pants or steal their tasers when stopped.
Hey Lindsay- how many unarmed black men were killed last year unjustifiably?
Answer 2 - all of last year
How many cops were killed?
Answer 54
Please shut up lidnsay-
Every white person in America feels fear when being stopped by black persons.
Because Blacks as a rule kill far more white people in racial motivated lynchings than police kill black people.
Far, far more people.
But that is correct, not politically correct.
Pandering for votes this November.
Well, Mr. Graham, why aren't you thinking you might have some warrants out for your arrest, maybe you might be violating your probation or parole, you might be a gang member or known associate? Can you talk your way out of that? No? So you FIGHT your way out...and then like the trombone sound...wa wa wa.
So Lynda feels qualified to speak for “every Black man in America”? Sounds like cultural appropriation to me, what about Black women Lynda?
The discomfort and annoyance of law-abiding black Americans at perceived disparate treatment is no doubt real, and I believe they have those experiences and those feelings.
OTOH the incredible level of violent criminality from American blacks as a whole is also a reality. Seven times the murdering compared to non-blacks. Twelve times the interracial murdering. 30 times the interracial assaults. And that reality, of violent outcomes far more profound than feelings and slights - is the engine driving the disparate treatment train, not baseless white racism.
The homosexual senator from SC needs to learn that our subversive media is the reason so many black people feel uncomfortable around police thanks to the liberal bullshit you are shoving down people’s throats. I’m sure he knows this though ... And is fine with it.
I've been pulled over twice and gotten two tickets. Both times I was speeding. A friend of mine has been pulled over no less than 40 times and has gotten no tickets, but he has been pulled out of his car on at least half of those occasions, handcuffed, and had his car searched. Once with a drug sniffing dog.
I'll let you guess the races here.
Every black man in America apparently feels threatened when they’re stopped by the cops.” And they should, since I feel fear every time I get near a black person. Living in Oakland, CA, near the Santa Fe district for many years gave me that healthy fear.
“Blacks make up 16 percent of the drivers on the turnpike, and 25 percent of the speeders.” ‘Nuff said.
Linda’s blackmail file must be a real doozey! Someone is leading that cowardly fool around by ... his nose?
Will somebody please get this jackass out of power?
I just want to scream at these people! EVERYONE FEELS THREATENED WHEN STOPPED BY THE COPS!! EVERYONE!! That’s the idea!!
Remember that linda is up for reelection in November.
Remember also that linda announced last August she is writing a Red Flag bill.
