Beijing, China, shuttered in-person classes for all schools on Tuesday, bracing for a new wave of the coronavirus. The closure goes into effect Wednesday.
The capital hub of 20 million people had gone more than 50 consecutive days without a new recorded case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new virus. But last weekend, city officials reported a cluster of 87 new cases, the Financial Times reported, 46 of which were asymptomatic. That cluster emerged in Xinfadi, the largest produce and seafood market in the city.
Xinfadi was closed over the weekend, as were several residential buildings on the west side of Beijing. More than 100 people have gone into a 14-day quarantine.

It’s not a joke. This is a very vicious virus. We haven’t seen anything like this in 100-and-some-odd years. Thankfully, the administration has cut through every piece of red tape to achieve the fastest-ever, by far, launch of a vaccine trial for this new virus.
I suspect that China intentionally gave a lower death count than actually happened, then they added these deaths to close the discrepancy.
I despise the domestic sympathizers even more.
I think it’s a combination of them locking everyone in their homes under threat of death (which is effective from a virus containment standpoint if you don’t care about your people) and outright lies coming from them about what’s happening.
I know they aren’t living. I have heard that when the host (the person) sneezes or speaks and expels the virus the virus cannot survive in hot temperatures long enough to infect another host.

And yet most folks who get this recover completely!
More and more people are being tested, and have the antibody! Many of these people were asymptomatic! Ill guarentee when the folks who have the antibody are added into the total number of cases, the death rate percentage will be on par with influenza!
Sorry, but those on whom you rely were wrong about every facet of this bug! There is no reason you should be listened to or believed regarding your bogus speculations!

Mounting evidence suggests the coronavirus is more common and less deadly than it first appeared.
The evidence comes from tests that detect antibodies to the coronavirus in a person's blood rather than the virus itself.
The tests are finding large numbers of people in the U.S. who were infected but never became seriously ill. And when these mild infections are included in coronavirus statistics, the virus appears less dangerous.
"The current best estimates for the infection fatality risk are between 0.5% and 1%," says Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.
That's in contrast with death rates of 5% or more based on calculations that included only people who got sick enough to be diagnosed with tests that detect the presence of virus in a person's body.
And the revised estimates support an early prediction by Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a leading member of the White House coronavirus task force. In an editorial published in late March in The New England Journal of Medicine, Fauci and colleagues wrote that the case fatality rate for COVID-19 "may be considerably less than 1%."
The new evidence is coming from places such as Indiana, which completed the first phase of a massive testing effort early in May.
