If the mayor doesn't want anyone shot in the back, ever, for any reason, then all cops cannot be held negligent in their duties if a deranged maniac gets away and hurts or murders another person(s) while the police look for him due to his escape occurring because he wasn't shot in the back.

Secondly, if someone like Rayshard Brooks doesn’t turn around and fire a taser because he doesnt flee, then it’s awful hard to shoot him in the back when he didn’t flee because he didn’t resist arrest in the first place.
IOW, up the time of incarceration to 5 plus years for resisting arrest from the 12 month average.
People like Brooks will comply and do their little time in jail for a DUI rather than go to jail for 5 plus years.

This was exactly my thought. If those police officer would have let him go, whether out of the goodness of their heart (gee, the hotel is just across the street), or because he wasn’t complying but escalating, and he killed someone. Man o’ man...

Why not leave, if just doing your job gets you immediately fired and torn apart in the media?

There is a report that this great example of fatherhood was serving a 7 year sentence for beating his kids and was let out because of the pandemic. Had he been arrested for his 2nd DUI, it would have been back to jail for him.
