The Atlanta Police Department is battling growing unrest in the City and plummeting morale. As a result, 19 officers have resigned in the last week. ...
The announcement came just moments after Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms addressed the growing chaos that has erupted in the past month due to protests, violent demonstrations, the tasing of two college students by APD officers, and most recently the killing of Rayshard Brooks.

Okay, you have a jacked up shoulder from wrestling in school. You're in the wrong place at the wrong time; 4 police tackle you to the ground, put your hands behind your back, aggravating that old injury quite a bit. You start grunting in pain and squirm - they start screaming stop resisting and proceed to kick you in the gut.
Should you get 5 years because of an old injury that came back in a vicious manner?
Im surprised its not more resigning. I wouldnt blame them if every cop in the country walked off the job
Now they can hire 16 fat black women.

It would be far better to hire 16 ANGRY, AGGRIEVED fat Black women. /sarc
Good friend of mine works with APD.
He’s say many more are about to jump ship. The morale is in the toilet.
Thank you liberals for giving that city to the rats & vermin!
There were people in the past who were beaten for resisting arrest so they got rid of the beating part but replaced it with the kid gloves treatment and neither are good responses.
So if mayors don’t want anyone shot in the back make it to where they don’t flee by having 5 years plus sentence for resisting arrest.
Did you mean blue places?
Curious on the demographics of the group.
This was exactly my thought. If those police officer would have let him go, whether out of the goodness of their heart (gee, the hotel is just across the street), or because he wasn’t complying but escalating, and he killed someone. Man o’ man...
Here’s hoping this racist divide and attack on police ends when a powerful, rich progressive picks up the phone to call the police and the police don’t answer.....or they are extremely slow to respond and there is a violent action against the powerful, rich progressive. It’s the same way that the “Me Too” movement went away when Joe Biden was accused of sexual assault.
Neither can the counter-revolution.
Per plan. Keep a real close eye on what the Atlanta PD hires to replace these officers. You can bet that the “standards” will be tossed into the crapper.
Meth.
I remember that one.LOL!
It’s hard for them to move if no one wants to buy the house they moved from because it’s dangerous there now or if they lost it all because looters burned whatever they had.
It’s the wealthy and upper middle class generally who will leave for safer pastures and can do so without needing immediate employment and right now that isn’t a guarantee.
I heard it was 1.5 percent. Your source is good?
Leftists use a similar argument to justify all abortions because of rape.
Can’t blame them a bit. Let the SJWs handle criminals for a while.
No, that was a logical wild ass guess.
Meanwhile 30% of AA males have been in jail by the age of middle adulthood.
But of course, the problem lies in rogue cops, not a demographic in need of discipline, leadership, God, and personal responsibility.
Give it time.
And I imagine some are taking the route of continue working while desperately looking at new employment or continue working while waiting for a transfer to a saner, redder area to be a police officer in.
How do you know? Are you a cop? If you are, I may accept your statement - if you have stats to support it. I have family in law enforcement, other family who were cops but no longer are, and I worked as a civilian supporting the police department for a couple decades. Another thing, I said "some". What part of "some" do you not understand? I did not say "all". My buddy and later roommate during high school was a punk, getting into trouble. After high school, he was so used to being around cops that he became one. He was one of those who enjoyed beating perps. As he matured, he tired of it and no longer wanted to be a beat cop, and became a motorcycle officer (and is retired now from SFPD). I remember the stories he used to tell me. I wouldn't call him rogue back then, just full of testosterone. Two of my brother-in-laws became cops, and both later resigned because they didn't like the culture, they were too "nice". So It isn't a 50/50 thing, as I said it's "some". I've been around a lot of cops who aren't in either category.
