Juneteenth has been in the news for past several years as black supremacy has swept the country.
I remember Juneteenth “festivities” in Oakland in the 90s, specifically at Lake Merritt. My experience is the same as yours: low-key, no violence. It had the air of a festival not a protest. I personally never saw anger at any of these events.
