I’m a Deputy and see clearly two sides. I see what he wrote an it’s mainly true. I also saw the actions of many officers during the lockdown. Law Enforcement can’t have it both ways. One problem is that the public in general never gets an accurate account what it’s like on the streets. It’s hard for middle America to accept there is a large part of our population that can only be dealt with,shall I say, anything but cordial. But there are police officers that don’t know when to turn that off.

I'm a 28 years military vet and rule follower with a TS clearance, and I do anything I can to avoid contact with the cops. I won't call them for anything.
I believe the quality and professionalism of cops have dropped over the years, simply because good people, with other options, didn’t want to be cops, because of all the PC crap that infiltrated Police Departments, because as Dirty Harry said, they wanted to be “Stylish”.

We sure were taught that as kids in the 40’s and 50’s, and yes if we got in trouble we got two ass kickings...one by police and another when our fathers found out. But that was when America was still America.
Cities that want to survive will support law and order.
Police can relocate to the cities that want to survive.
Those cities can send their miscreants and other commies to the blue cities that want to deteriorate into slums and chaos.

I remember when I was four or five, playing with other kids in the apartment complex my parents had to live in then; they were just starting out, and my dad didn’t make very much money.
I remember being shocked when a lady came out on her front porch and yelled at one of the kids I was playing with; I knew the lady wasn’t the kid’s mom, and the fact that she was yelling at him really made me stop and think.
Now, 60 years later, that apartment complex is completely occupied by Democrat Core Demographic Voters.
You’d think so. But what if leftist governors and mayors replace cops with communist or post constitutionalist cops.
I can't deny that you've got a point there.
Same goes for what's happened to the reputation of the clergy, in the wake of the epidemic of child sex abuse in many countries.
Stop and frisk. Check points. No knock raids. Cops started treating us like the enemy first.
Point taken. Same can be said for teachers and politicians.

Unlike all the police videos you see on tv in the bigger cities, I never had the luxury of 10 cops with me to control a situation. It was usually just me. Again what it boils down to today for the private citizen is being able to protect yourself. If the cops can’t even protect themselves, how in the Hell can they protect us? My time with the Sheriff’s Office Reserve (since I retired from full time), is probably going to be shorter than originally planned if things don’t change.

I'm a retired public school teacher and the entire litany above fits most any organization that deals with the public on a regular and close basis.
Look around. The big talk now is about a coming teacher shortage. I've been retired for nearly ten years and there still is seldom a month that goes by that I don't get at least one call from some district that wants to know if I'd be interested in substituting, short/long term fill in or a return to regular employment. It's the same problems that the they've listed above for the police.
Cops probably got it better in that they have a gun.

Yes, we all have relations or not with police officers. Just as we do with all peple who serve our communities. And there’s bad seeds in all of them. However the police officers live daily in a barage of criminals who think nothing of pointing a gun, a knife or fist in the back or point black range at their heads.
I will always support officers.....because in todays world they are the targets rather than the lowlifer criminals they go after......and I don’t care how they treat the criminals.
I bet his police movies from the 70’s get banned before long if not already. Charles Bronson’s Death Wish films probably will go too.
