Let Seattle stew in its own excrement; The National Guard has better things to do than save Seattle from itself.

The news out of Seattle is that Antifa has captured a seven-block area in central Seattle that they've dubbed the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ for short.

Given the protests (read: riots) across the country over the past two weeks and the feckless (at best) handling of said riots by leftist mayors and governors, that Seattle permitted this to occur is not surprising.

Seattle's Mayor, Jenny Durkan all-but encouraged the takeover of her city when she proclaimed:

Keeping demonstrations peaceful must be a joint effort between our community members and law enforcement.  I am hopeful that tonight, with these operational changes, our city can peacefully move forward together.

Of course, these operational changes were "letting these thugs overrun her city and confiscate a seven-block section of the Capital Hill district of Seattle."

Seattle, along with Portland and other hard-left run cities, has long been a cesspool of minimally tepid, if not enthusiastic support for Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

While my friends on social media are clamoring for the president to send in the National Guard and reclaim the city, I believe that a different tack is in order — let the people of Seattle stew in their own excrement.  Really.

You see, the challenge in our current debate (which is not really a debate, because whenever facts are presented, the left shuts down dialogue and lobs the ever present term "racist") is that the media have glorified the most heinous of acts in urban centers throughout the country in the name of justice.  But it's not about justice.  It's about rubbing raw the sores of discontent, as Saul Alinsky asserted in Rules for Radicals.  Rubbing these sores, as their tactic goes, energizes the most radical elements of the movement.

Seattle suburbanites have been tacitly down with the struggle,

Pardon my ignorance, but doesn't the governor of Washington State have power to send his National Guards? Why involve the President at this time?

Seattle and Portland have been a liberal meca and home to ANTIFA for years. Police and local officials should have stomped their antics out long ago. Let it burn.

Let them have the whole city. The rest of the country will see what they get with progressives and leftists.

There's an angle to this that doesn't seem to have gotten much attention.

In normal times, there would be tremendous public pressure to suppress riots in large urban centers. This pressure wouldn't just come from many of the people who live there, but from the suburbanites who live elsewhere and commute to the cities for work.

Most commuters from the suburbs have been working from home (or not working at all) during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Many of them have no interest in going back to work in the cities at all.

On top of all that, the recent gentrification efforts in most large U.S. cities have brought a large number of very wealthy people back into these cities from the suburbs. In the aftermath of COVID-19 many of these folks have already fled, or are making plans to get the hell out as soon as they can.

As a result of all this, there are many, many people who simply don't give a sh!t about what happens in our cities anymore.

Count me among them.

POTUS told the mayor to take control and restore order or he will

Cut off federal funds to the state and the city.

The governor and mayor will cry and whine for a while.

Then when that does not work, they may get on their knees and beg the occupiers to leave....

;-)

I think President Trump is trolling these people majorly. He knows that the Democrat Mayors and Governors have responsibility for this stuff. He sends out Tweets and insists that they deal with the riots and says “if they don’t I will”.

But I think that is intended to convince the Democrat leadership to do nothing. Prolong the problems in their own back yards. Wait for the President to make the mistake of jumping in with his guns literally blazing. They would love that. But I don’t think the President has any such intention. He isn’t going to try and solve the problem. Why should he? He didn’t cause the problem and he doesn’t have jurisdiction over the problem.

I think cities that have been under Democrat control for decades are going to do very, very poorly. And I think the President is going to make this very clear to voters as we approach November.

The Democrats want him to screw up. I think he’s sitting back, watching them screw up.

—while I mostly agree with the “let ‘em stew in their own juice” philosophy, there must be some decent people in that six-block area —what about them and their property?

OK, I agree. But who is this message to be sent to first?

WE are Federalist system of government where the cities have MAYORS and the States have GOVERNORS.

Where are they?

Next city, the fed should hit within a few hours after they set up. They won’t expect it.

Agree with the article to the letter. At some point the insurrection will be in shambles within the “Zone” This Raz freak will list some watered down demands that the Mayor will lap up to end it. Hopefully the Feds will be there with a Federal indictment in hand and these ring leaders never see the light of day again. Hopefully they can arrest that Indian communist on the city council for something as well.

Back in 1919, Seattle was plagued by riots led by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), an anarcho-syndicalist union. However, Mayor Floyd Olsen was made of far sterner stuff than the current mayor. He instituted a harsh crackdown and crushed the IWW.

Olsen would later found the city of San Clemente, Calif.

Washington, Michigan, Minnesota parts of Illinois and a few unknown rural regions are on our northern border.

I think we should NOT post defeat articles and plant THAT thought without people realizing it.

THAT'S psyops and should be exposed and discouraged.
