REDLANDS (CBSLA) A large three-alarm commercial fire engulfed an Amazon Distribution Center in Redlands early Friday morning.
The blaze was reported at 5:30 a.m. at 2255 West Lugonia Ave., in the area of the 10 Freeway and Mountain View Avenue.
Video from the scene showed huge flames and plumes of black smoke shooting hundreds of feet into the air as Redlands Fire Department crews battled the blaze. Its unclear if anyone was hurt.
The 10 Freeway was shut down in both directions, Caltrans reports. The eastbound side was closed at Mountain View Avenue and the westbound side was closed at California Street. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department, which was assisting in the response, reported that the building was a distribution center for e-commerce giant Amazon. There were several Amazon big rigs parked outside which also caught fire.
The exact circumstances and a cause for the blaze were not immediately confirmed.

BLM and ANTIFA
And Amazon just got done kissing butt . . .
Wonder how much Amazon will pay now for being extorted.
This is why I don’t buy my gasoline via Amazon. It’s just too darned dangerous.
Fires like this are absurdly rare. It’s almost always arson nowadays.
Does this mean my china widget I ordered won’t be delivered next day?
My thoughts exactly, and I’m sure that many FReepers will agree.
However, we don’t know for sure until the arson investigators have done their work.
I was a reporter/editor for 25 years. The report we just read seems appropriate at this early time. In my day, we printed facts, not conjectures — unlike today’s press.
Bezos hasn’t paid enough Danegeld.
Yet.
Ah, that's too bad. And this after they went to so much trouble being "woke."
I guess they thought the alligator would eat them last.
Well, it might be a little smokey smelling.................
I’ll take “Things that smell like arson” for $300, Alex.
Amazon supports BLM and affirmed this with a huge banner on FireTv.
Ha, I avoid buiing any liquids from Amazon, they wind up all over the inside of the packaging.
The irony is ironic...
Waiting for the fire sale...
“This is why I dont buy my gasoline via Amazon. Its just too darned dangerous”
ROTFLOL!
Well they had to get rid of the virus on the factory shelves somehow...
Yes, warehouse fires are very rare. Fire codes are very strict. Sprinklers of course, but the sprinkler systems themselves have to be designed in very specific ways based on density and height of warehouse shelves e.g. so the sprinklers are not blocked by merchandise stocked on the shelves.
Tilt up warehouse buildings, with cement walls, simply don’t burn. The roof could burn, the merchandise could burn... cement itself doesn’t burn. Stuff doesn’t just spontaneously combust. And it’s not like they were stocking a lot of alcohol sanitizer lately...
“Amazon expected minimal impact to customer orders.”
Translation: “Amazon expected minimal impact to customer orders, saying their distribution center operator has insurance, so destroyed items will be repurchased from our suppliers”.
Yet, unlike so many large fires, the media seemed disinterested in speculating on the cause. Given what is going on in the country that disinterest could be politically motivated.
Amazon lit itself on fire in a show of solidarity with the rioters.
