During a briefing Wednesday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany explained to reporters, specifically CNN's Jim Acosta, that the police and other law enforcement officers have the right to defend themselves. Her comments came after the Trump administration was accused of having "peaceful protestors" tear gassed and physically removed from Lafayette Park on Monday evening.
"No tear gas was used and no rubber bullets were used," McEnany explained. "No-one was tear gassed, let me make that clear. That's been confirmed by DOD and Park Services as well."
"Let me go back and address what happened, there has been a lot of misreporting," she continued. "The protestors were told three times over loud speaker that they needed to move and what happened was it grew increasingly unruly, there were projectiles being thrown at officers, frozen water bottles were being thrown at officers, various other projectiles and the offers had no other choice than in that moment to act and make sure that they were safe and that the perimeter was pushed back because as we all know a church was burning in that very area the night before so the appropriate action was taken...It's absolutely uncalled for to thrown bricks. Absolutely uncalled for to throw water bottles that are frozen at police officers."
Press Sec Disputes Allegation That Police Used Tear Gas Against Peaceful Protestors
Meanwhile, a number of U.S. military units have been moved to the Washington D.C. should unrest in the city continue.
The Pentagon has ordered forces and bases in the Washington D.C. area to "Force Protection Condition Charlie," a threat condition that indicates "likely" targeting of military forces and or terrorist action and the second highest alert level available. The state of higher alert was ordered as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
CNN is ATT
Kayleigh ‘Pitt Bull’ McEnany!
More, Please! :)
I was so pissed at Dana Perino - I was watching the Presser - Chanel Rion asked a question - just as Kayleigh began to answer, Fox cut her off!
Are those cops hauling off a white supremacist?
Fox sucks.
Dana blows.
Dana is probably jealous. She was a mediocre press secretary at best.
There seems to be a developing liberal narrative, that the police are being too hard on the rioters.
In this particular case, the claim is that they were peaceful protesters, and not violent at the moment they were pushed back to create the security perimeter.
What the heck?
FOX did this in the hearings at least twice from what I watched when a Republican would talk.
“I was so pissed at Dana Perino - I was watching the Presser - Chanel Rion asked a question - just as Kayleigh began to answer, Fox cut her off!”
I saw that too. The answer would have shown the other side of the George Floyd matter.
All she needs is a street sweeper or two to make things interesting.
A soldier or two or a cop or two holding street sweepers along with the announcement “this is the President’s and my response to stupid questions. Next!” would be extremely entertaining to the people at this time.
(A street sweeper is a modified 12 gauge shotgun that has a 30 round drum magazine that is loaded, if I remember correctly, with 00 buckshot.)
They should cancel Acosta’s press pass.
Do it to every reporter in there that asks gotch questions
every time their turn comes up.
Look, there ARE hard questions that should be asked, but the
one or two minute lead in to these gotcha questions are
designed to trash Trump in the face of anyone watching.
I’m done with that.
So Nancy and her bodyguards visited the protesters today.
Since when does facts mean anything to the fake news network?
