Twenty-year-old Brian Bartels, the man accused of inciting violence and riots in Pittsburgh on Saturday, is in police custody.
Bartels turned himself in at police headquarters Monday. He arrived with an adult male and adult female.
Bartels is facing charges of institutional vandalism, rioting and reckless endangerment. According to police, he’s responsible for breaking the windows out of a Pittsburgh police car against the wishes of peaceful protesters.
After he was arrested, police say they received a call from Bartels’ attorney earlier in the day saying Bartel would turn himself in Monday afternoon. Bartels had no comment as he walked into police headquarters.
His attorney also told KDKA’s Nicole Ford he has no comment.
There was so much destruction downtown after Saturday’s violent demonstration, and police believe Bartels from the Allison Park area helped incite that violence.
Pittsburgh Police provided a photo of him wearing all black with a black bandanna around his face.
Besides Pittsburgh Police, Shaler Police, North Hills SRT and FBI Pittsburgh served a search warrant at a home in Shaler Sunday.
Bartels was not there, but investigators say they found evidence that links him to the protests — guns, spray paint and gloves. Also found during the search warrant execution was the sweatshirt matching the one seen in the video of the protest on Saturday.

Rioting is one youthful endeavor for which I’m fully in support of participation trophies. I hope young Mr. Bartles is only the first of many to be so recognized for the role he played.

It would be a plus for civil society if he were publicly hanged. What a pathetic loser. His parents are pathetic failures as parents.
I read in another article that dad turned him in. At least his parents are responsible citizens. Unfortunately passing your morals along to your children is not easy in today’s world where the village insists on raising your children and instilling their values and convincing children to throw out their parents values. Until we make chances in our educational system it will only get worse.

What makes anyone think he will be in “jail” long enough to flip? 100% lawyered up and mouth shut. Will be home having lunch by 11:00 am. Call me cynical.
That may happen. The lawyer will go for probation which is likely on a first offense unless the damages were enough to classify the offense as a felony.
Anyone curious as to why this story would be run to begin with?
If you look at the “professional protester”, I wonder how many are Snowflakes who came from a nice family, but grew up being told they were “special”, that all the world is a Participation Trophy”, and anything that bad happens to you is someone else’s fault?
How many Ivy League law schools have offered him admission so far?
The presence of Antifi has been raised in association with the terrorist rioting. There can be no doubt that there are groups involved that are inciting the pliable masses.
The President has told us he is going to go get them. He named Antifa but indicated knowledge of others. His government has had some part of four years to infiltrate and learn about these instigators who incite the pitiful and pliable masses.
The question becomes who are Antifa and the others? I suspect the President has precise and plentiful knowledge. He not only knows who and where but has substantial evidence on the enabling funding

In 2009 there was a G20 meeting in Pittsburgh, attracted a lot of visiting protestors, who protested against a lot of storefronts in the Oakland section between Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh, and protested against a lot of buildings downtown (the tactic of looting had not been perfected yet, nor had looters been recruited to the Cause at that time). Numerous arrests, resulting in a few fines, and no jail time for anyone.
BTW, China has been funding Antifa and BLM for a while now. Trump knows.
