Face mask were never intended to protect the wearer.
They protect others from inhaling droplets potentially with viruses of the wearers.
It reduces droplets expelled in the open by ~75%. Not perfect. Not 100%. But reduces spread.
It has proven helpful over and over again in Asia with multiple airborne epidemics/pandemics.
It is one of the reasons South Korea and Taiwan stopped Covid 19 cold and to a lesser extent Japan.
Japan had quarantine and track and trace protocols installed early in the pandemic just like Australia and New Zealand.

I won’t wear one. Here in true blue Puget Sound, I was a minority for a while when at the store. Lately, not so much. People are beginning to see through all the BS, regardless of Inslee’s proclamations. The so called ‘lockdown’ is a JOKE.

hate to tell you, but droplets expelled in the air aren’t likely to infect someone walking by, which is what the Nervous Nellies like yourself are telling us; takes a longer exposure than that...and even if that were true, it would require coughing, sneezing or shouting to propel droplets far enough to infect anyone, so if that’s not going on, masks do nothing...
The only mask I would wear is the old WW 1 gas mask I have.

Agree, it is a choice. I’m 78 ... I’ve been convinced from the beginning that most of this was “hoopla”. And having a cloth mask stop a virus is like trying to stop a bumble with a wooden fence. It is about “size” ... the mesh in a cloth mask is an open door to the relative size of a virus particle. HOWEVER ... I wear a mask when I’m out. Why? To remind others to keep their distance. I’m not wearing it because I’m “told” to ... but I am using it as a signal to other people that I won’t be doing a lot of hugging.
Fact is..I was at the hosptial lab today to get my anitibody test.
Some wearing masks, and some not. Everyone stayed their distance.
Matter of fact, the lady taking my blood was laughing when I told her that maybe we should all do like the French did in the trenches during a gas attack. She didnt know so I told her. They pissed in a bandanna and put that on. That with goggles.
