LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave an update Tuesday night regarding the state’s response to dam conditions and flooding in mid-Michigan.

A breached dam caused by several days of rainfall and rising water has forced the evacuation of about 10,000 people in mid-Michigan.

READ: Evacuations underway in mid-Michigan after Edenville Dam breaks Whitmer urged residents in Midland County to evacuate as soon as possible. She said both the south and west side of Midland had been evacuated.

“Please, get somewhere safe now,” Whitmer said. “This is serious.”

She asked residents to either go stay with a relative or friend. If they didn’t have a place to stay shelters were made available.

Why did the Governor allow this to happen? She was elected to fix the damn roads and infrastructure. Roads are worse and now the infrastructure is crumbling. She needs to go.

Given how stupidly Fukashima was designed, I fear that this one is designed such that the generators that keep the feedwater pumps going in a power outage are in the lowest part of the plant.

They better have their crap together. Given the Governor should be wearing a “I wish these were brains” T-shirt everywhere she goes, I’m pretty sure she’s not on top of this.

My son works at a lumberyard in western Michigan. It’s near the Grand River. They are all busy moving all of their lumber to higher ground today

From the recent past:

Michigan Has Thousands of Crumbling Dams Pose Dangers

UpNorthLive ^ | Wednesday, February 15th 2017

"Michigan has thousands of aging and under-maintained dams that could pose localized risks.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality tells the Detroit Free Press that all but six of the state's 88 potential high-hazard dams are approaching 50 years old, the average engineered life span for a dam.

The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Michigan a D grade on the condition of its dams in 2009, saying more than 90 percent of the state's nearly 2,600 dams would reach or exceed their design life by 2020."

__________

*************

Michigan dams crumbling like Gretchen Whitmer's V.P. desires.

Just think about how much better off if we had spend all the money that was spent on political correctness on the dams instead................................

Wisconsin's 'Noah's Ark' is throwing caution to the wind and opening Memorial Day Weekend. Y'All Come! Bring your money because our dip-shiite Governor (Evers, Douche, WI) has closed huge chunks of our economy though May 26th!

Wisconsin still has a rather huge infrastructure problem, as well.

Governor ‘Diamond Jim’ Doyle (D, WI) raided our Transportation Fund to the tune of $1.2 BILLION and GAVE IT to the school system at the request of his Union Goon Handlers.

We’ve never recovered.

“Since taking office in 2003, Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle has taken $1.2 billion from the transportation fund to pay for schools and provide aid to local governments. Legislators from both parties grumbled about the transfers but signed off on many of them.

The state borrowed about $800 million to make up for the loss, but the transportation fund faced a net drop of $434 million, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

The state’s transportation fund is financed primarily from the state’s gas tax, vehicle registration fees and federal aid.”

Good for them!   (I wonder how many "Noah's Arks" there are out there in the world today?)       :-)

(Good for your state supreme court the other day too, for overturning some of that governor's nonsense.)

Gee, don’t warnings about dam failures usually come a few days in advance? At least that’s how it is done in other states. Maybe the Witmer administration was a bit negligent in informing residents about these threats? Perhaps the Governor was preoccupied with protecting citizens from trained and licensed elderly barbers and was not watching the dams nearing capacity? Does this merit an investigation into how Michigan State Government is being directed? I would think so.

I would bet they had models which told them exactly what to do!

Unbelievable. She just told the refugees from the flood to be sure to wear masks and submit to anti-social distancing while they trudge through the night to their relocation camp.

Maybe this would be a good time for Governor Whitman to move all of the patients in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) to the towns that will be flooded. this way she can kill them all at one time and still blame CV-19 as the culprit
