Sessions sends open letter to Alabamans on recusal from Mueller probe
Fox News ^ | May 12 2020 | Tyler Olson

Jeff Sessions, the former Alabama senator who is now running to reclaim his seat after a brief stint as President Trump's attorney general, released an open letter to Alabamans on Tuesday explaining his recusal from the Department of Justice probe into Russian election interference amid attacks from Trump and his GOP primary opponent on the issue.

The letter seeks to set the record straight on why Sessions stepped back from the investigation -- which also looked into potential Trump campaign involvement in the Russian scheme -- while reaffirming Sessions' support for the president. It comes just days after Trump slammed Sessions on his recusal in an appearance on "Fox & Friends," attacks which have been amplified by Sessions' Trump-endorsed GOP primary opponent Tommy Tuberville.

"As the world knows, the President disagreed with me on recusal, but I did what the law required me to do," Sessions' letter says. "I was a central figure in the campaign and was also a subject of and witness in the investigation and could obviously not legally be involved in investigating myself. If I had ignored and broken the law, the Democrats would have used that to severely damage the President."

Frickin’ weasel creep. He didn’t just “step back” from Mueller probe; he recused himself from everything where he could’ve helped Trump.

Nice guy, but a total wimpy patsy in a dog-eat-dog realm like AG of the DOJ.

Sessions isn’t yet allowed to detail his involvement in the Plan and his role as a double agent working behind the scenes to arrest Hillary, Bill and Obama.

So he never should have taken the job knowing this. And didn’t resign. Disgusting.

He had many opportunities to tell Trump BEFORE he was appointed AG.
He is pure scum.

And isn’t it suspicious that Sessions’ letter comes out the same day Grennell is releasing a list of names of the mutineers? I’m thinking there’s a 75% chance his name appears as an attendee at some of the deep-state, take-out-Trump meetings.

Look at his use of the word “obviously” and substitute “what you morons don’t understand is” I could legally be involved...

According to legal experts, the law did not require him to recuse himself. He was either too stupid or wanted to. I would suggest he wanted to, based on his subsequent inactivity.

Sessions is correct about the law. But he should have stepped down entirely. Better yet — he never should have accepted the nomination in the first place.

He recused himself over an investigation that turned out to be a complete hoax. Who would elect a moron like that?

That interview greatly disturbed me, particularly the part where Trump explained why he nominated Sessions.

“He was the only Senator who endorsed me and he came to me four times and begged for the job.”

Is THAT really the criteria Trump used to make one of the most critically important appointments of his presidency?

If so that certainly explains why so many of his appointments were clunkers. Frankly I expected much better from him.

That’s a joke, right?

If you really followed it, you’d find out that the Dems forced him to either withdraw or they’d do the same thing that they did to Flynn.

“ Sessions isn’t yet allowed to detail his involvement in the Plan and his role as a double agent...”

Do you think that’s not within the realm of possibility? The timing is suspicious, considering the list that was turned over to Barr yesterday.
