We are beginning to see a light at the end of the coronavirus tunnel. But there are hard times ahead for our nation, state and beloved New York City. The choices we make now will determine how quickly we recover. Vague and contradictory policies — the kind we’re all too accustomed to from this mayoralty — won’t help.
Mayor Bill de Blasio reacted too late to the health side of the crisis, delaying lockdowns when a week or two earlier could have reduced deaths by as much as 80 percent, according to former city Health Commissioner Dr. Tom Frieden. As late as March 13, the mayor was encouraging people to “go on about their lives,” and on March 16, he went to his precious gym.
To repair the damage and build a better future going forward, we need better leadership than that — especially on the fiscal front. State and city history is instructive.

If we could make any financial assistance toed to restoring 2A rights, elimination overbearing business regs, mandating NYPD work with ICE, etc. than we could maybe consider it.

I am not sure if New York can be saved. I am sure as long as corrupt socialist run things it will not be saved.
I say corrupt socialist because I don’t think most socialist politicians are really socialist. What they are is corrupt and by funding social programs with no real goals on fixing problems is an easy way to skim money off the top.
Spend millions of dollars on the “homeless” and yet the homeless are still here, oh well, we tried.

We didn’t have any viable alternatives, as no one challenged him, figuring that they’d wait for him to be term limited. Sal Albanese was the only politician with a name, and Blaz kept him off the stage.

I know that tongue in cheek, but Willie is part of the destroy America party. Lenin, Stalin and Castro never wanted for food even in times of great famine in their created socialist paradise. Willie views himself as party loyalist able to wield power over his subjects.
Cuomo and Debasio’s daily publicized and popularized TV briefings meanwhile would stroke New Yorkers backs with all manner of 'we feel you pain' dramatizations mingled with personal family stories and engagements. Not to mention targeting the federal government ( UStaxpayers) for not rescuing them.

Cuomo is scared frozen, no plan to reopen other than an elaborate set of roadblocks that will actually keep the state locked down for months and the economic deterioration will cripple New York for years.
