Most new Covid-19 hospitalizations in New York state are from people who were staying home and not venturing much outside, a “shocking” finding, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.
The preliminary data was from 100 New York hospitals involving about 1,000 patients, Cuomo said at his daily briefing.
It shows that 66% of new admissions were from people who had largely been sheltering at home. The next highest source of admissions was from nursing homes, 18%.
“If you notice, 18% of the people came from nursing homes, less than 1% came from jail or prison, 2% came from the homeless population, 2% from other congregate facilities, but 66% of the people were at home, which is shocking to us,” Cuomo said.
“This is a surprise: Overwhelmingly, the people were at home,” he added. “We thought maybe they were taking public transportation, and we’ve taken special precautions on public transportation, but actually no, because these people were literally at home.”
Cuomo said nearly 84% of the hospitalized cases were people who were not commuting to work through car services, personal cars, public transit or walking. He said a majority of those people were either retired or unemployed.

To stay at home or not?

We’re clearly past the peak in Stockholm and our health care (system) has been able to handle it, we have extra beds in the hospitals and everybody has been treated that needs to be treated, even non-Covid patients have been able to get treatment.”

But truthfully, I think that when people remain in their homes, their conscientious hand washing they'd do if they ‘went out’ goes out the window. ‘Oh, why should I bother washing my hands, I only went to get the mail from the box. Or just wash the clothes in the apartment facilities...’
And a whole lot of people will wear one pair of gloves from when they leave their home until they get back inside and then take them off incorrectly, contaminating the surfaces inside their apartment.
Th lock down was equivalent to the practice of medieval bleeding of the patient. STOP IT NOW!
I suspect the obvious. That people are losing their ability to build immunity due to panicked sequestration. Humans need proximity to one another in order to build herd immunity, and personal immunity. Sadly, with this engineered virus (insert of PRRA sequence) , it is much more infections and the old and weak are going to die. Very sad, but all we are doing is delaying the inevitable until autumn, destroying the world economy, guaranteeing that MILLIONS more die of starvation this year than would ever die from this virus, and condemn those that would be perfectly fit to build immunity to weaken immune systems.
The time to open is now. Not next week, not phased until July. Now. The time to build herd immunity is Now, while the weather is warm and our bodies are less stressed and people can congregate and spend more time outside.
Don't wait until it's too late.
And if you're more likely to die from this because you're generally old and fat and diabetic and sickly already, well....life isn't always fair is it? Life needs to go on for the other 95% of humanity.

And Cuomo has a history of killing economies. Remember what he did when he was HUD Secretary under Clinton? He forced banks to give mortgage loans to people with no verifiable income, no jobs, no assets, and no credit history, which led to the banking crisis in 2008 - 2009. In other words, Cuomo sowed the seeds for the great recession.

I picked up a side job at the local supermarket back when this started. Haven't gotten sick once since then.

If the average home has 3 people in it and the virus infects 100% of household members one 1 member gets infected and if only 1 of the 3 members ventures out, then this would be the exact expected result.
