Attorney General William Barr made a last-minute push Monday to persuade the administration to modify its position in the Obamacare dispute that will be heard at the Supreme Court this fall, arguing that the administration should pull back from its insistence that the entire law be struck down.
... Barr and other top advisers have argued against the hard-line position for some time, warning it could have major political implications if the comprehensive health care law appears in jeopardy as voters head to the polls in November.
According to four sources familiar with the meeting, Barr argued for modifying the administrations current stance to preserve parts of the law, rather than fully back the lawsuit filed by a group of Republican states. As it stands now, the Trump administrations position seeks to invalidate the entire Affordable Care Act, signed by President Barack Obama in 2010 and commonly known as Obamacare.

Barr was confirmed by the Senate to do the bidding of the GOPe and the donor class. The GOPe loves socialized medicine. Big government programs to manage and corporations get employee health care off their books. The GOP have fought tooth and nail to keep obamacare the law of the land.
Hmm, this doedn’t bode well for Barr/Durham taking a hardline against the FBI/Intel conspirators.
Why in the world is Barr wading into this? What does this have to do with his role as AG?
Just a guess on my part, but perhaps the whole obamacare fraud is a part of another ongoing or contemplated DOJ investigation. Can’t think of any other reason he would comment on it.
“Fresh eyes” in D.C.? Hope springs eternal. But I think fresh eyes is one very valid argument for moving some of the federal agencies away from D.C. We call D.C. a swamp. To me quagmire is a better description.
Bottom line, I want a Trump win in November. So if being prudent in how best to get rid of the Obamatrocity gets him there it is fine with me.
And don’t forget Dems have 4 votes to our 1. Not in numbers but by their cheats.
He is one of the president’s advisors. That includes advising him on how legal actions taken by the president could have a political ramifications. Because it is all politics in the company town of D.C. Barr wants Trump to win. I do too.
Great summation.
Interesting speculation. Nothing is obvious, is it?
Wow, now THAT is a response!
On the off chance Trump loses, he should go out with Obamacare dead and buried.
Sit down, shut up, take direction, offer any advice 1:1 behind closed doors, then march to your orders.
Or resign.
no American should tolerate an Unconstitutional Law that affects us all.
To do invites further Constitutional intrusion
Strike down Obamacare in its entirety. Deport all illegals; no exceptions. Restore the rule of law and constitutionally-limited federal government.
All cabinet officers are political to a certain extent and recently, the AG office has been hyper political with Holder and Lynch, in particular.
There are a ton of decisions made by the AG that have political consequences, so you want an AG that has a good political ear and one that is not tone deaf.
He can't get anybody better confirmed by this Senate. Maybe he could recess-appoint a better candidate, but all of that candidate's actions would just be reversed by his Senate-approved successor.
Count on a GOP swamper to preemptively surrender, to analyze based on fear and stupidity and fear of stupidity rather than to stand back, figure out what’s best for America and what maximum freedom looks like and then get down to the business of figuring out how to get there from here.
