______

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – In a memo sent to city leaders, Governor Gavin Newsom stated that tomorrow he is announcing closure of all beaches and all state parks in California, effective May 1st.

Newsom highlights that after seeing multiple violations of the stay-at-home order is the reason for this closure. “Those images are an example of what not to see, people, what not to do if we’re going to make the meaningful progress that we’ve made in the last few weeks extend into the next number of weeks,” Newsom said, during a news conference Monday.

“I cannot impress upon you more, to those Californians watching, that we can’t see the images like we saw, particularly on Saturday in Newport Beach and elsewhere, in the state of California,” Newsom said.

All Newsom can do is try to control access to beaches. Some of our local bolsheviks tried that and it did not end well for them. (Texas Gulf coast)

“Now we’ll know if Bill Barr meant what he said.”

So far he has shown no interest in prosecuting out and out traitors so I doubt this will get much traction.

Didn’t CA recall a governor about 25 years ago or so?

I don’t see any situation where the DOJ could ever compel a governor to open a state park.

Certainly sounds like he got a taste of ‘control’ and he likes it...

I can see two: overbroad, underinclusive as relate to violations of Amendments 1, 5, 9, 10. But I ain’t a lawyer, and didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

It’s a park, not a home or business establishment. Is a state park violating the U.S. Constitution if it closes after sunset?

Maybe there would be a 1st Amendment issue if someone wanted to hold a political rally in a state park, but that doesn’t seem to apply here.

I’m not sure how that would apply, either. WTF?

Will exceptions be made for illegal aliens needing to do a drug deal? As if I had to ask . . .

Looks like california had to empty its prisons of violent criminals in order to make room for those "dangerous felons" who simply want to enjoy being at the beach, outdoors and not being cooped up at home in the heat. This will somehow "save lives" by weakening everyone's immune system.

I wonder what would happen if a bunch of illegals showed up at the beach to have a cookout, and sell fruit, tacos and street-meat by the roadside. Quite a conundrum for a "sanctuary" state.

If californians don't disobey this order en masse (they can't arrest everyone), they have completely ceded any vestige of desire to be free. This is yet another test case to see how far the totalitarian leftist governors can push the populace without resistance. So far; the totalitarians are winning.

It’s a race to the bottom.

It’s public property, so in effect it’s owned “by the People”.

So Newsom needs to show a valid reason why people can’t be there. So far he hasn’t done that.

When you’re outdoors in a park, you’re automatically “social distancing” already, so how is it illegal?

I think Newsom is an idiot and this is a terrible idea. I just don’t see how this is a matter for FEDERAL courts. California state courts would be the obvious avenue for any legal challenges.
