Rep. Steny Hoyer has changed his mind about the House schedule. After speaking with the House physician about the COVID-19 risks, the Democratic Whip decided that the chamber will not return next week.
!!! Hoyer says House will NOT come back on Monday, telling reporters he spoke to the House physician: "We made a judgment that we will not come back next week."
Hoyer explained that the number of COVID cases in the D.C. area is still climbing.
Earlier this month Hoyer suggested that the House would only return if there was an " emergency ." Social media users asked what on earth he would call the current crisis. Americans everywhere are out of work and small businesses are struggling to stay afloat. They need Congress to act to help them protect their livelihoods. Especially after days of Democratic delays to get the Payment Protection Program replenished. The PPP is a continue to pay their employees.

"We will not come back next week but we hope to come back very soon to consider the Cares 2 legislation," Hoyer pledged, explaining that leadership will continue to work with the House doctor on safety measures.
The Senate is still expected to be back at work next week.

The country would be better served if the House did not meet again until Republicans take it back.
Maybe it’s a good time to suspend salaries for these Congress critters. They take enough in bribes, kick-backs and pay offs to survive in any case.
So, not until at least 2023. I think 2021 is a lost cause already as I have little faith that enough Americans will think differently than in 2018.

I wouldn’t even care if they continue to get paid if they would just PROMISE NEVER to come back. Getting paid while not working has been a complaint of mine for years - getting paid while campaigning for a different position in Congress etc., but I would concede on this one - STAY home - just make sure we never see your face in DC again!!

At this point, they are not even essential! They have done NOTHING since President Trump has been elected but interfere with him and purposely act lazy and stupid except when they spend our money and divert it to themselves.

Well, I presume that means (since the House is on recess and the Senate is not) it means they can’t agree on a recess; so the President can force them to show up, right?
Congress should adjourn for ten years just to be safe.
