... President Donald Trump came into office railing against many of the foundations of our democratic institutions, including a free press. Forty months into his administration, coverage of the coronavirus outbreak is the latest sign that - contrary to conventional wisdom - he hasn't laid a glove on serious journalism. His attacks, most recently against excellent reporters like Jonathan Karl (ABC), Yamiche Alcindor (PBS), Peter Alexander (NBC) and Paula Reid (CBS), put the bully in bully pulpit, but they haven't shaken the soul of the First Amendment.
Trump's daily briefings, which sometimes include pertinent and significant information, have also frequently become a sideshow, filled with false and misleading statements, compulsive boasting and self-promotional videos. That's why with each live briefing, many news outlets, including ours, are aggressively fact-checking in real time, assessing the value to viewers minute to minute and cutting away when warranted.
Despite these challenges, what has become powerfully clear during this pandemic is that the heart of journalism has never been stronger. As ever, journalists are asking tough questions and going where the facts lead. Not looking to win any popularity contests - just doing what Woodward and Bernstein inspired my generation and the generations that followed to always do: seek the best obtainable version of the truth.
At this dark hour, people are scared. They're being bombarded daily by noise and information, not all of it correct - some of it intentionally divisive and polarizing. They're hungry for accurate information and the straight, unvarnished truth. Now, and in all the days to come, journalists will be there.

Think about how many times and with how very many things and ideas the Democrat/Left has done this. Denying reality, wishing reality to be what they most fervently want it to be, then accepting their "new", their "alternate version of reality must be in their DNA ... they can't help themselves, just like that with every thing they do, the Democrat/Left always -- always overreaches ... as with the current flu debacle. Cheers!
You journalists should stop trying to play Hollywood trial lawyer and press for information and news instead. As far as being unbiased as you like to claim....any notion of that has been completely blown over the last ten years.
Last week, I was censured by FB for facts I, as a physician, know to be true.
LOL ... they're not "free," they're bought and paid for.
They are winning. Trump is on track to lose the election resoundingly, ushering in an era of massive liberalism.
They are not winning, they are revealing their hate, nastiness and lies. But apparently that’s who they are and what they do so Trump an the administration should simply accept it and react accordingly.
Like RUSH preached to the House freshmen when Newt took over, NEVER think the media will be your friends, they despise you, accept it.
The journalists are all trying out for Pravda.
They think in the last week that they are winning with the Lysol discussion and memes
Unfortunately, they might be setting things up to try to win for Biden early.
Why else would the CEO of NBCNews openly write this letter.
“he hasn’t laid a glove on serious journalism.”
What would you clowns know about serious journalism?
No, the media is under attack. Journalism is not. There are few if any journalists remaining in the mainstream media.
“Journalists” and your bosses can ESAD.
If the MSM is winning, why didn’t Mrs. Bill Clinton win 90-10?
Opinion: Journalism is under attack from coronavirus and the White House. But we’re winning.
Then why is it that across the board you are referred to as the eneMedia and it fits.
L.O.L.
Winning = ratings
Partisan Media Shills update.
Journalism IS under attack.
The attack is by partisan leftists masquerading as “reporters” who are only interested in shaping the narrative into their views, and primarily trying to make themselves look like the embattled “david” against the evil Trump Goliath.
But what they’ve managed to do is poison the media to an entire generation of consumers. I used to be able to “deal with” slanted reporting. But given what they’ve done to President Trump, his administration, his nominees, and the way they colluded with the former administration to ensure that there was NO peaceful transition of power, they’ve lost me to the point that I will never trust any of them, for even the most trivial news.
These are corporate and communist government shills, and nothing more. They’ve worked to install a corrupt harridan as POTUS, and after she lost, they’ve worked to overthrow a legally elected president, some going so far to say that he committed treason because of collusion that they reported, but that they knew were all lies. The so-called mainstream media colluded with the former administration’s intelligence service to spread lies and undercut any policies and the prestige of the President and administration on the International front.
But most recently, we’ve seen them running Chinese Communist Party propaganda as “news.”
The “Fake news” really is the enemy of “The People.”

DNC media says what?
I knew that the train was going to run off the tracks in the late 1980s when I heard an interview with a “journalism student” at University of Missouri (supposedly one of the top “journalism schools in the country,) that the reason she wanted to become a journalist was “to make the world a better place.”
I’ll never forget that. I was driving home from school in New York, nearly home, north of Kansas City, having stopped off at a DQ at an exit on I-29, and was waiting in the drive-through for a cherry Mr. Misty, and I heard that on Chuck Harder’s “For the People” syndicated radio show.
I was aghast. And I still remember it clearly, a bit more than 30 years later!
