Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer banned a lot of things in an effort to save lives during the coronavirus crisis, but life-destroying abortions were not among them.
On Wednesday, leaders of a Detroit suburb urged the pro-abortion Democrat governor to protect unborn babies, too.
WDIV News 4 reports the Shelby Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved the message urging Whitmer to amend her stay-at-home order to include elective abortions.
The governors order prohibits elective and non-essential medical procedures, among other things, during the coronavirus crisis. The purpose is to preserve medical supplies for those who need them most and prevent further spread of the virus. However, Whitmer specifically exempted elective abortions from her order.
It doesnt make any sense, Shelby Township supervisor Rick Stathakis said. Its inconsistent and unfair.
Stathakis wrote the resolution stating their objections to Whitmer. It supports the sanctity of life from the moment of conception and supports a hospitals decision to ban non-essential abortion procedures during the State of Emergency.
The resolution continues: Non-essential surgical abortion procedures or elective surgical abortions require personal protection equipment and close contact between patients, doctors and their staff that could very likely contribute to the spread of COVID-19.
Stathakis said they want Whitmer to close the loophole and make sure abortion facilities are not adding to the burden on the state healthcare system.
Shes using this as a political tool, Stathakis said. Here we are in a pandemic and shes playing politics with something she should not be doing.
Heres more from the local news:
In the end, its a political battle on both sides. Whitmers office said Thursday that there are no plans to change the order.
Stathakis said he knows the resolution is non-binding, He said he reached out to Whitmers office but hasnt heard back. He said he will continue pushing to get other townships on board.
Earlier this month, Whitmer tried to defend her decision to allow elective abortions while restricting other necessary medical procedures.
A womans healthcare, her whole future, her ability to decide if and when she starts a family is not an election, it is fundamental to her life, Whitmer said on Axe Files podcast. It is life sustaining and its something that government should not be getting in the middle of.
Whitmers restrictions for the coronavirus crisis are among the strictest of all state executive orders, and Michiganders have protested in large numbers in recent weeks. But amid all her restrictions, the Democrat governor allowed an exemption for a favorite ally of hers: the abortion industry.
Tens of thousands of people in Michigan lost their jobs because of Whitmers restrictions during the coronavirus, and now they cannot even buy seeds to plant gardens to feed their families. Individuals are not allowed to use their own motor boats and vacation homes to social distance either.
Meanwhile, a pro-life sidewalk counselor recently received a citation for standing alone outside a Detroit abortion facility, supposedly in violation of Whitmers order. However, the citation later was dropped after he filed a lawsuit.
Still have not heard the word RECALL. Is it that difficult to do?
Then why is the beyotch getting in the middle of it? I have never understood, why these evil bastards want to kill as many babies as possible? Do they get chills and thrills down their spines, when millions of babies are murdered? Do they get some sick pleasure out of it? I think they do. 👎
She is a vile, evil person whose draconian measures have earned her a 62% approval rating. Go figure...
I’ll never understand why Democrats are so hell-bent on murdering children.
Getting dirtier in Michigan D’rat politics. Is Gestapo Gretchen related to Debbie Wasserman Schultz?
“Nakagiri asserts that the Whitmer administration is now trying to cover their tracks after having been caught claiming that the entire executive branch (Governor Whitmer, Secretary of State Benson, Attorney General Nessel) used NGP VAN for their political campaigns. It seems that political patronage is interfering with resolving Michigans COVID-19 crisis.

The lady shouldn’t run an outhouse, let alone the state of Michigan.
There’s a difference?????
