A new survey from Jackson & Coker shows an overwhelming majority of doctors would prescribe hydroxychloroquine or another anti-malaria drug to a family member suffering from Wuhan coronavirus.
"Sixty-five percent of physicians across the United States said they would prescribe the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine to treat or prevent COVID-19 in a family member," the survey, which questioned 1,271 doctors in 50 states, found. "Only 11 percent said they would not use the drug at all."
In addition, a significant number of doctors said they would prescribe the drugs to those exposed to the virus as a preventative measure and would take it themselves if they became sick from the disease.
"Thirty-percent of the surveyed doctors said they would prescribe the medications to a family member prior to the onset of symptoms if they had been exposed to COVID-19," they found. "Sixty-seven percent of surveyed physicians said they would take the medications themselves to treat COVID-19. Fifty-six percent said they would take the anti-malarial if they displayed symptoms and another 11 percent said they would take the medications if they got very sick from the virus."
According to their website, Jackson & Croker is a "top healthcare staffing firm with nationwide reach, specializing in locum tenens, locums-to-permanent and telehealth staffing" and works with "healthcare organizations big and small to find them the right physicians and advanced practitioners to provide quality patient care."
Working in healthcare, weve learned the best way to get a candid perspective on treatment options from a physician is to ask: Would you give this to your family? Jackson & Coker President Tim Fischer released in a statement. Families across the U.S. and the world really, want to know what they can do to protect and save their loved ones."
When a medical crisis like this emerges, the voice of physicians needs to be heard. Their insight is powerful for families faced with uncertainty," he continued.
A number of physicians across the country are currently treating Wuhan coronavirus patients with these drugs and are seeing positive results.
Comments?
I spoke with my doctor last week and he would prescribe hydroxychloroquine should I need it.
We are their lab mice. If they need another ten thosand to split into test and control groups to see who lives and who dies, well those are just the costs. Hope you get in the test group.
And if they wouldn’t they are lying.
Hydroxychloroquine is OTC in most malaria ridden countries. They give it to infants.
Up yours Fauci.
Why would am MD not prescribe it to anyone? What have they got to lose...as I understand it there are few side effects and none are dangerous.
There are speculative articles making gentle claims that Type 2 Diabetes is a /forme fruste/ version of Systematic Lupus Erythomatosus.
I write as a one-time PhD level immunohistochemist.

As I understand it, Trump has appointed a pharmaceutical house (can’t remember the name) to act as an agent to distribute the HCQ nationally. Therefore, HCQ should become available in pharmacies. I am a little concerned about maintaining the supply since the formularies that go into making the drug are foreign based. Like the ventilators, Trump needs to take ahold of this issue and mobilize U.S. pharmaceutical businesses to start making the drug domestically in mass.
April 9. Just saying since the title says a "new" survey. My doctor said he would prescribe.
“””I am a little concerned about maintaining the supply since the formularies that go into making the drug are foreign based.”””
I believe India is the world’s largest manufacturer of anti-malaria drugs because their huge population can get infected.
India should be a reliable supplier to the USA as they stand to benefit ‘big time’ as US companies move their factories out of China to use India’s inexpensive labor.
The Drs that say they would not in this poll would prescribe it in secret
and would never admit to it.
An AP poll yesterday supposedly indicated that 80% “support stay-at-home measures.” Well, many people might support the current plan for hotspots and those really at risk, but the current plan does not keep all the restrictions for everyone forever. I say the AP poll is misleading at best.
Mark.
And probably the only reason they would say that is because they hate Trump.
Politics trumps everything!

Bayer manufactures most HCQ in the United States.
Why the comment? Fausci didn’t say it wasn’t any good, he said, being a medical scientist, he would rather actual scientific studies be done before pushing something.

Why the comment? Fausci didnt say it wasnt any good, he said, being a medical “numbers dummy”, he would rather “unlimited” scientific studies be done before pushing something.
That is what one gets from bureaucrats.
The number of India cases is very small relative to their population.
Likely because the routinely take two of the effective drugs.
