That is what one gets from bureaucrats.

No, that's what one gets from those who make their living using the scientific process...they had high hopes for the Gilead drug but after a month, 13.9 percent of the patients on remdesivir had died compared to 12.8 percent of those in the control group. The difference is not statistically significant....

And other preliminary trials have show other treatments, like with a HIV drug, to not having much hope...while a smaller test bed for a drug the Israelis decided to start trying shows some promising effects.

I personally think that all the "anecdotal" results from HCQ make it worth a try if nothing more proven is available...but it should also be noted that the UK doctors opted to not try it on Boris Johnson...

Time and proper testing will show us the treatments with the best well-defined efficacy and that's what the medical community relies on.

Believe what you want and I’ll believe what I want.

Studies are little more than a way for those learned people to use up government grants.

Actual results are what count not numbers on a screen. Or 50 page reports that prove little more then they passed first year English.

From what we have seen from academics do not show any real truths or results.

Fair enough - I believe you are as wrong as the lurid, “This could be the end...” or “Unnamed sources say....” stories/tales/tarns...but more power to you.

Atabrine is the brand name, similar to hydroxychloroquinine:

“Comments?”

My best guess is that HCQ will not come up to the results of its most enthusiastic boosters but it will have a mild positive effect.

Saying it should be given only to less sick people is changing the rules - because most of them recover with or without it.

If you wanted to study only people with normal or slight ferritin elevation, CRP <5 mg/dL, and oxygen requirement less that 5L/minute, the number needed to show a difference between Rx and no Rx would be thousands, maybe tens of thousands.
