A few Democratic governors have sought to build a more positive relationship with President Trump amid the coronavirus crisis, but Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has chosen to lead her party’s drumbeat of criticism. She is the new Democratic star who recently gave her party’s response to Mr. Trump’s State of the Union address, and is on Joe Biden’s short list of vice presidential running mates.

Gretchen Whitmer was born in 1971 in Lansing, Michigan, as the eldest of three children to Sharon H. "Sherry" Reisig and Richard Whitmer, who were both lawyers.
Her father served as head of the state's Department of Commerce under Governor William Milliken and was the president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan between 1988 and 2006. Whitmer's mother worked as an assistant attorney general under Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelley.
Her parents divorced when she was 10 years old; she and her siblings moved with their mother to Grand Rapids. Her father traveled from his home in Detroit to visit the family at least once a week.
If Biden chooses her, we should slam her for banning HCQ just to score points with Trump’s foes. Truly, truly poor performance. May have cost some lives in Michigan. There should be ads set to go if it looks like she’s the choice.

William G. Milliken was the governor when I graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, Michigan in 1972. He was a Republican, but not a dyed in the wool conservative. His policies were not terribly far apart from those of his predecessor, George Romney.
Frank Kelley was a Democrat, although not uber-Liberal. He was the state AG at the same time.
Gretchen Whitmer is an absolute disgrace. It makes me wonder: where are the Speaker of the Michigan House and the President Pro Tem of the state Senate, both Republicans. Do they need to have their faces printed on milk cartons?
She was only elected because marijuana was on the ballot. Michigan will have to spend decades for their mistake hopefully she won’t kill the auto industry like PAtried to do with coal.
Fortunately, Michigan state rep Karen Whisett (D) heard Trump talk about HCQ and ask her doctor to prescribe it. She said it saved her life and it was thanks to DJT’s recommendation of the drug because it wasn’t “accessible to me”
