If you haven't already heard this from the "mainstream media" (AKA "fake news"), you soon will. Fake news media, doing the bidding of their leftist and Democrat masters, have been trying to destroy Donald Trump with hoaxes since he announced his candidacy, or maybe ever since Trump first questioned Barack Obama's claim of being born in the U.S. The fake news first claimed that President Trump overreacted to COVID-19, then Trump was belittling COVID-19 and ignoring the experts, then Trump didn't act fast enough, and soon the fake news media will come full circle to proclaim that Trump hyped it all up and shut down the U.S. economy for nothing. For once, will the fake news media report something real? Will this be a scandal with some weight of truth, eating into the base that never bought the prior hoaxes?
As an expert in computer modeling and simulation, with some familiarity in epidemiology, I can assure you that the computer models upon which Trump has based his policies are absolute bunk. The real-world data from Wuhan (however much you want to believe it) and the Diamond Princess and other countries and cruise ships suggest that COVID-19 kills more of the people it infects (0.5% vs. 0.1%) but infects far fewer people than influenza (3% vs. 15%). There might have been 50,000 deaths in the U.S. if we had done absolutely nothing. The fake news media will have plenty of experts to back that up, and they will be reinforced with the final numbers, which might not even top 20,000, including the exaggerations.

We were biologically attacked by China and the Soroses of the world. Time to flatten certain areas of the globe and certain individuals.
The Fake News Media can pivot on a dime and change their attack in the blink on an eye.
The federal guidelines I got on a postcard in the mail are very reasonable and non-binding. The only economy-hurter in there is telling people not to dine in restaurants.
The massive lockdowns and shutdowns and curfews are the doings of state and local authorities.
Trump was put in a box....he was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t. No way he wanted to shut down America, but the left would have been screaming :BLOOD ON HIS HANDS” for every death!

I used to have some respect for American Thinker, but their coverage of the coronavirus pandemic has been appalling. They’re on my sh!t list now.

They are going to blame Trump for action, inaction, something in between, and everything else. There will probably be another impeachment over this. Trump should use this crisis to keep the border closed and as a bludgeon against globalism.

Total BS. This shutdown had to happen. Travel, conferences and sporting venues had to halt or this would have been incredibly bad. Offices has to go stay at home and restaurants and bars could not put hundreds of people in close range.
I still believe there was an over-reaction over the past month with local and state governments playing ‘who can panic more’ or ‘who is the closet fascist’. Stay at homes that are crushing even more businesses was over reach. One on one and small groups could have congregated without massive spread. That said, there is no doubt this was different than the expectation early on. It had to happen.
Perhaps he can get release the shutdown quicker this way. It should not go past Easter.
That is actually what “progressivism” is, or more accurately does.
It is without conventional rules or laws or even logic.
It doesn’t change in order remedy whatever the current issue is.
