The necessary new normal: How the deadly coronavirus pandemic will reshape Ohio, the world and us

CLEVELAND, Ohio – There is a time in the future when Ohio will lift its stay-at-home order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Residents will emerge from isolation, once again able to see family and friends. Many of the businesses that closed their doors will reopen.

...

Experts say the fallout from the prolonged period of isolation could have a profound and lasting impact on everything from mental health to the way businesses operate. It could cause at least a temporary change in societal norms because many people might be wary of seeing a movie in a crowded theater or even shake a stranger’s hand. It might cause the U.S. to rethink social safety net programs, such as healthcare and paid sick leave. It could also force people to reassess the fleeting nature of their daily life, and be more grateful for simple conveniences.

Rest of article at link. Long article but worth a read. Has quotes from experts from the Cleveland and Pittsburgh areas. Warning: The article cites Trump constantly downplaying the crisis and cites that some on the right call it all a hoax.

God bless you all and our POTUS, VPOTUS, and Drs. Birx and Fauci.

Thank God I’m an introvert and a contrarian.

I built my beautiful house just so that I could stay away from the smelly public.

This is a new ABnormal.

Never consider it “normal”.

Things that make you go “Hummmmmm....” I hereby formally introduce you two, just in case. ;-)

It will probably normalise mask wearing in public because it looks like that is where we are headed.

Some laws will need to be modified.

Americans do not pride themselves on a strong capacity for memory.....
.
Besides.... If the Browns get to play and make it to the Playoffs (and more) this coming season.... Well let’s just say Cleveland’s wounds would be healed....

Yeah, we totally still act the way we did the weeks after 9-11..../s

Humans reflect, and move on.

Like what the hell do these people think happened the past 300 years that somehow ranks as far easier than this?

yes, after some provocative projections the author and his many leftist, academic sources reveal their agenda... socialism.

This is what we will hear. They will use a one time, freak emergency to promote government take over. nevermind that State, Local and yes Federal governments left us totally unprepared. They will use the bailouts, the social distancing rules and the mobilization of production and delivery of medical supplies as rationale to take over

Yet, they won’t give Trump credit for being in charge of all that. They won’t give him credit for coming up with solutions on the fly. no way. And they will never hold moron Governors for not preparing for the disaster which, is primarily a state function.

“a profound and lasting impact on everything”

...Like allowing communist China to take over our supply chain, or our individual willingness to keep buying shoddy ChiCom products, that risk our health, safety and National Security.

“Many of the businesses that closed their doors will reopen.”

I believe “many” is being rather too optimistic.

"Experts say the fallout from the prolonged period of isolation could have a profound and lasting impact on everything from mental health to the way businesses operate."

Yes, improvements in mental health, fewer new drug problems, fewer venereal diseases, more useful products made in the U.S.A., fewer vice businesses,...
