“Many of the businesses that closed their doors will reopen.”

I believe “many” is being rather too optimistic.

The recovery will be capitalism 1001. Once economy activity resumes any business that doesn’t return to the market place that was successful and provides a service in demand will leave a void that will almost immediately be filled by another business with the capital to enter that market share. Yes a lot of smaller companies will be wiped out but it will be a HUGE opportunity for new companies to come and take that spot in the marketplace. Lots of new businesses will start and boom and a whole new group of newly affluent people will be created. This is going to end up being the passing of the torch as this bug kills boomers and late Gen Xrs it’s opening opportunity for millennial and early Xrs to get into a market they were previously not able to enter. A lot of the capital that has stagnated in the older generation is about to be inherited by the surviving generations and those are the innovators who will fund the replacements and those who are holding capital right now just waiting to spring into the marketplace when the dust clears. Exciting times ahead for the survivors for sure. POTUS is right we will see a boom after this just like the roaring 20s a hundred years ago. Ask yourself why did the roaring twenties happen in the first place one of the answers is Spanish flu of 1918.
