The recently published article used comments made by Dr. Fouci back in February. Back then Dr. Fouci was sort of dismissive of Coronavirus.
On March 11, Dr. Fouci testified to Congress that Coronavirus is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu.

No, nobody with a 3 digit IQ believes China or Iran.
That’s not the point.
The graphs just show officially reported numbers.
Everybody knows to ignore China’s numbers, but it’s not for the graphologist to insert any political, national or other bias.
All the graphologist is doing is reporting the numbers. China’s numbers are not in any way averaged into overall numbers. Each national trajectory is its own.
It’s a shame this has to be explained to you.

The article the author is citing where Fauci said it may not be much worse than the flu was published on Feb 28, two weeks BEFORE his comments speculating that it might be 10 times worse than the flu.
The author either got mixed up on the dates or is deliberately publishing falsehoods.

So, no, they didn’t lock people in their homes over a virus. The locked people in their homes over the protests.
Don’t conflate the with-lockdown UK numbers with the run-amok numbers for the US.

With less than 1% of the nation exposed, CCP-19 daily deaths have surpassed flu in-season daily deaths, even using the highest CDC estimates.
And I don’t think it can be stopped with the limited containment effort in place - the restrictions you are so upset about are going to get much harsher and this thing will *still* humble the lowly flu.
If the death count from this stays to a 5 or low 6 digit number, no doubt you will all celebrate being “right”, ignoring the fact that it was because of the things you opposed. It will be in spite of you, not because you were right.
I have no idea what tangent you’re off on now but that “not coming back market” just had it’s greatest weekly gain since 1938.
So, will POTUS now insist that all states and counties return to work, beginning this Monday? Put an end to any talk of any further stimulus or ‘relief’?

Again with this F ing Bull#$%! That editorial was published in February! I got egg all over my face when someone else posted this yesterday and used the word “Concede” in the headlines. Fauci has conceded NOTHING. This was back in February!
I am not saying our reaction to this is definitely over the top. I'm saying that the self-justifying argument of "if governments are doing it, it must be correct" is bogus. That's the same logic used by global warming alarmists. "if we're all saying it, it must be true."
Alarmism can take on a life of its own. Whether that ends up being the case here is something we don't yet know.
I could probably find any number of things that have a similar age distribution. Diabetes, perhaps.

Even if it were “the flu” it would overwhelm our HCS in short order if allowed to roam free.

1) I love nice pictures as well. But the real issue here is what we were told and what the graphs you posted show. My premise is that we were driven to panic by forecasts. I would like to see how those forecasts compare em the actual data. It is HIGHLY relevant. We were promised the second great plague, let’s see it.
2) without context your charts are irrelevant. Is this virus more than the flu, I believe it is. But again, given the ultra extreme measures this nation took it better be more than just ten orders of magnitude worse than the flu. Ok, how about one order of magnitude worse than H1N1?
3) Might it be? Yes and no. That is the thing, until the data is more complete than what we know today we won’t be able to make that assessment.
4) Where are the comparable charts and color graphs for H1N1? Wouldn’t they be relevant vis-a-vis gauging the level of reaction here?
5) Without proper context you have posted data that shows: 1) diseases spread over time and 2) as they spread mortality rates increase.
6) With your charts come words at the top that say the spread is worse than China. And that is where your data falls apart. Your data and the premise it purports to prove comprises trusting that we are getting the real numbers from China. I am sorry but how can we trust data from a country that gives nobody access to it and tried to cover this up in the first place.
I could put “Pigs Fly” as my premise and back it up with fancy charts that include numbers gathered from interviews with flying pigs. It would look nice but it wouldn’t be true.

Evidence for the latter:

Neither “twice” not .28 appear anywhere in the NEJM article. The author may have mixed up the dates by accident but I don’t see how he could have invented those statistics by accident.

The chicoms had lost control of the protests in Hong Kong.
After c-19 was released, the protests stopped. Also, the Chicoms got their ass handed to them in President Trump’s trade deal. I think this was a dual purpose release.
1. Stop internal dissent.
2. Slap back at the west economically.
