Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) blocked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells (R-Ky.) attempt to set up a Monday morning vote on the stimulus package, effectively delaying the vote until the afternoon.
McConnell had vowed earlier Sunday that he would force a second procedural vote related to the stimulus package at 9:45 a.m., 15 minutes after the markets open.
But when McConnell tried to lock in that time, Schumer objected, denying the GOP leader the consent he needed to enact his plan.
Instead, the Senate will vote for a second time after they come into session at noon on Monday.
Schumer said he and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin were making good progress.
I think theres a good chance we can have an agreement, he said, adding that Democrats were fighting for a better bill.

The Demon-crats want to destroy President Trump, even if it meant the extinction of the human race. They need more time in determining whether voting for or against the bill would hurt President Trump. That is the only factor that matters to them.
The Turtle is the Majority Leader. He has the power to eliminate all these arcane Senate Rules that Schmuckie is using against him.
But, he hasn’t because the Turtle is a typical Swamp Dwelling Senator and is so very enamored of and devoted to the protocols of the Senate.
Now, personally, I am not a believer in this “Bailout” plan. Not at all.
My reaction is simply to the Turtle allowing himself and the Pubbies to be played again and again by the dems.
Personally, I think this entire Whan Virus Panic is entirely out of context and dem/media-driven hysterics.
The statistics, when viewed rationally, reveal a viral outbreak whose infection/death ratio is DWARFED by the Common Annual Flu. And, yes, this includes the few hotspots like China/Northern Italy and Iran.
Can he pull the bill?
i wonder if trump can unilaterally order a federal payroll income tax moratorium in view of democrat intransigence.
in which case the democrats are once again falling into a political trap...
Right now they are down 5 GOP senators who are self-quarantining.
they don't care about us.....
You’re correct. I had forgotten about this. And, the requirement is that all votes are to be done in-person. Remote voting is not allowed.
Now, I’m not sure where this requirement originates. Is it a Constitutional requirement? Or, is it a self-imposed “rule”?
I read the Constitution many years ago and cannot recall this as a Constitutional rule but.it’s been quite some time so, I can’t say definitively one way or the other.
The last person with honest intentions in a building dedicated to a legislative body was Guy Fawkes.
Why is Schumer allowed to have so much sway?
Hmmm..how convenient! Just enough that was needed for the DUmocrats to block any action. Coincidence or conspiracy?
bubble suits
astronaut suits
or just show up and let the democrats moan and groan
#15 and others. Time to charge the Democrats, esp. Schumer and Pelosi, with waging “Economic Genocide” against America, stockholders, and businesses, as well as against Pres. Trump and his administration.
The Soviets used to do this all the time, esp. against our NATO allies in Europe (re gas and oil supplies in the dead of winter). Now the Red Chinese are doing it too, and the Democrats just join in. “Democrat-Communist Collusion” anybody?
I cannot believe all the McConnell bashing on this thread when the culprits are Naazi and Chuckie. For one I am hoping the majority of those afflicted are the people that support them.
But of course the virus knows not the difference between Republicans and Democrats (the lowest form of scum on the planet)!
How Conveeeeenient.
It’s being reported that Pelosi is writing ‘her own bill’ and what is holding things up.

The cornered Rats are the dangerous Rats.
Well Trump is supporting this multi trillion dollar thingy and the buck stops at his desk.
Will we spend 5 trillion before it’s over? 10?
